Long story short. I was trying to remove the gear knob on my Freelander 1 TD4 S Automatic. Unfortunately, I twisted it off instead of pulling it up and the plastic bit inside the stick has snapped (the plastic is the bit which pulls up when you press the button to change gear from park to drive)...
