The bumper is totally bent from where it hit the house. I have taken the spot lights, cubby box, rear speakers and stereo out. But im pretty sure the stereo has been cooked. The tyres in my picture arn't the ones which are on it at the moment so thats ok. Are the insurance people going to care...

Anyone know if a complete td5 exhaust would fit onto a 1987 defender with a 200tdi? im guessing you would have to alter it slightly where it meets the engine, but would the rest be suitable? cheeers

A few months ago i made the same mistake of washing my defender.... i didnt even go near the engine bay, but next morning it wouldn't start :eek: By that evening it started fine though.... Not washed it since!! :D

I get the impression that the 200tdi conversion is the easier conversion to do, but i keep coming across a lot of complete 300tdi disco's for similar price as the 200tdi's. Because they are newer they seem in better condition and the vehicles better looked after. I just looked at your thread...

i have also been looking at similar gauges. Are all the gauges available for sale, suitable for Defenders?? i have a feeling i read on here a while back u have to make sure that it is a certain type :confused: I came across this the other day, reckon this would work...

i'm currently looking for a donor disco... is there a preferable year to go for? and also do ya reckon i should go check it out before bidding, or just buy it on the understanding it doesn't smoke etc... and if it does.. then refuse to pay and say it was wrongly advertised?

My 2.5td managed 87mph the day i got it.... since then its got considerably slower... woops!

I was quoted around £1000 for discovery 200tdi engine + fitting + discovery clutch. However I don't know what condition the 200tdi was in. I have decided that I will do it myself this summer with the help of a mechanic friend if i need it. I don't know much about engines, but im quite practical...
