    Freelander 1 Down pipe FL1

Thank you all for advices. I managed to remove and weld in a new flex pipe, made a jig to get correct length. There's always a but though, there is now a minor leak between down pipe and manifold. I tightened to 60Nm used a new gasket and some permatex. Will order a new gasket, is it...

    Freelander 1 Down pipe FL1

This was not the reply I was hoping for but after having a closer look I agree that it will be difficult to do in-situ but also that it is at least room to remove the down pipe. Let's see how cooperative the bolts are though.. /Chris

    Freelander 1 Down pipe FL1

Hi, A quick question, I had problem with exhaust values and I think I found the reason :) (see photo) A down pipe is quite expensive over here and not easy to remove I guess. How would you do, , would you weld or replace with a new generic flexible pipe plus clamps. Thank you in advance /Chris

    Rear wheel bearings or diff

Hi I had MOT today so didn't want to mess with transmission before that, will check the VCU bearings in the weekend. Now I have to focus on the lambda value which MOT didn't like :)

    Rear wheel bearings or diff

Hi Andy Thank you very much, The VCU was replaced 3 years ago and haven't driven much, bearings are GKN. I will check if I don't find anything else that's wrong. Main suspect now is the diff :-(

    Rear wheel bearings or diff

Hi folks, Is there a way to find out if the noice from rear is due to wheel bearings or diff? The car is a Freelander 1 -04 26000km and afaik the bearings are never replaced. I have the car jacked up at the moment trying to listen and recorded when spinning the wheels but doesnt getting any...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Hi, Thanks for feedback and advice. The collars are still there, will try to remove the bolts now when I have bolt extractor. If it fails I could well end up in deciding that the bushings are perfectly fine :-) /Chris

What have you done to your Freelander today

Hi, Yes I know, quite weird actually. But I tried all angles without luck. I thought there should be a small difference in height between the drop link mountain and lower spring plate. Will measure properly next time I remove the tires. might be something wrong, don't know if there are...

    Freelander 1 ECU scanners

Hi, I have one pscan, very impressive list of functions for several cars and I'm very happy with it. I also have a Autel AP200 which with the landrover software are quite good and easy to use. My car is a 2004 FL1 1.8 I heard a lot of users that are happy with the Delphi clones but never...

    Bolts for ARB

Hi I'm having problems to remove the bolts for ARB, will try with bolt extractors. Can I replace the original ones (FS108207L) with a M8 13mm head rated 10.9 bolt? The others are expensive to buy over here. Thank you in advance

What have you done to your Freelander today

Hi, New drop links fitted, went smooth. The only hassle was not enough room on the right side to torque it properly. Next is new ARB bushings.

What have you done to your Freelander today

Hi To say I did it today would be to lie, but the last week or so I have replaced water pump allt belts including timing belt, new inlet gasket and rear drums and brakes. No big surprises more than some bolts that was very tight plus the previous owner stripped the thread in the head. After a...

    Freelander 1 New Radiator

Hi After changing inlet gasket, water pump and timing belt my radiator decided to give up and start leaking. Not much, mostly weeping but have to do something about it and K seal is not recommended. Have I understood it correct that I have to remove front bumper and then it's easy accessible...

    Tailgate upper finisher

Hello, I have replaced the Lokuts (DYH100980) with new ones. After torrential rain I noticed the inner roof was damp. I removed everything and will now use the five remaining lookouts... So before I continue, shall I use adhesive on the foamy sealant fitted on nr 3 here...

Freelander 1 Engine mounts (timing belt)

Hmm, sorry for stupid question. Isn’t this seal meant to slot in and then clamped by the bolt between lower and upper timing cover? Its a tad oversized.

Freelander 1 Engine mounts (timing belt)

Thank you Andy, Seems I didn't read it through properly... so 30 nm plus 120 deg it is I had to manufacture a plate to lock the flywheel and haven't had time until now to remove the bracket. Theres no room to use a torque wrench so I have to fine tune my wrist. Now I will assemble it all again...

Freelander 1 Engine mounts (timing belt)

Thank you very much, then I do as you advise. The torque values are they 85 nm for the M12 and 45 mm for the three in the block? Just like to verify I’m looking at the right values in rave. /Chris
