Hi my EBD light stays on I had a mobile mechanic fit new brake pads all round he then put the car on his computer but no faults came up he checked all the things associated with the light still nothing can anyone help please

I have a 2008 freelander 2 2.2 diesel I have had no trouble till the other day my son borrowed the car and it now has the EBD light staying on I have just checked the rear pads and they are low but still prob 3/4 worn does anyone have an idea of the problem
