Thanks for your constructive input Mad Hat Man, you should take to the stage with comedy like that... I have now found out it is the fuel pump so having that replaced and hopefully that will be the end of it.

My 52 reg TD4 just conked out while driving slowly down a lane. It felt like the timing belt had gone but know they have a chain. Wouldn't even try to start again. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to start looking?

Hi All, I'm new to the site, just got an 02 Freelander TD4 with 80K on it, all seems well but I've just been on a 450 mile motorway round trip, keeping to about 75mph and only returned about 30mpg. Is there anything I should be looking for which can cause this. I was hoping to get late 30's...
