    squeak from rear (ird/drivetrain?)

    Hi Sorry for delay in replying... we ended up taking the whole prop off and driving round for a bit without it. When we put it all back on, my husband oiled all the bits and touch wood, no more noise... take it it was the IRD unit???

    Driving without viscous coupling?

    Well, we did it... took the whole prop off. First one bit, then the whole lot !! Drove around for about two weeks with absolutely no change in anything... fuel no different, steering a little bit lighter, but not a lot. Anyway, we had to put it all back on as we have a huge problem... complete...

    Hi. Like most Freelander drivers, I have problems with noise etc and now am thinking about disconnecting the viscous coupling to stop rear tyres scrubbing when on full lock. Husband can do the job, but can I drive around for ever without the 4 wheel drive or will I cause any damage to anything...
