    How should it run.

I just read the thread posted a couple of years ago about 10W40 v 5W30 etc. I'll look at the Helix

    How should it run.

I fitted a new VDO MAF sensor today and fixed the airbox that wasn't closing properly. Instant improvement smoother power delivery. Still monitoring the black smoke under load. But trying to be a little less enthusiastic with my right foot. I've thought about doing the service myself, but I...

    How should it run.

Thanks. That's what I'd read. It's hard to know if mine is running well or not as I'd nothing to compare it to. It's got a full service history and I take it to defender specialist garages to be serviced or for the major work (hence thousands spent!). I don't expect modern driving refinement...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Hopefully fixed oil leak from rocker cover gasket. Fitted a new injector loom a month ago and the half moon at the back hasn't seated properly. Then took it for a long test ride around the back roads.

    How should it run.

I'm relatively new to owning a defender (TD5 2004). I've covered around 10000 miles since buying in Feb 2019. So far I've spent thousands (no exaggeration) on servicing, replacing most components underneath because they were knackered including the transfer box, rear diff, shock, clutch etc etc...

Defender Td5 XS Tyre recommendation (15k miles pa)

Thanks all. I went for the Michelin in the end. Quiter and smoother than my KO2'S even if they don't look as good. Will see if they make a difference to mpg one a few tech issues are sorted....

Defender Td5 XS Tyre recommendation (15k miles pa)

That's great help thanks. I was looking at the Michelin and was hoping to get an endorsement without prompt.

Defender Td5 XS Tyre recommendation (15k miles pa)

Sorry if this is repetitive, I've spent hours trawling forums before posting. I own a 2004 Defender 90 Td5 XS with 235/85r16 BFG T/A tyres. They are getting old now and were the tyres fitted when I bought it on Boost alloys (They feel a little ott for my use). I drive around 15k mile pa (mostly...

Local agent for Alive remapping.... Along with a number of other more essential work. It's been an expensive few months, but hopefully mechanically it's sorted.

    TD5 remap

Update. New insure provider used at double the cost of my original. But it's also including agreed value which I didn't have before. My previous insurer wouldn't insure anything more than a 20% increase in power. Stage 2 remap going ahead.

    TD5 remap

This is what confused me when the insurance company said no. I have owned cars before this that chucked out 220bhp, My last 'normal' car was 150bhp and yet the insurance was far cheaper. It smacks of the company i'm with seeing a 30% increase without context and don't want to get involved. I...

    TD5 remap

Evening, I was hoping to get my Td5 defender Stage 2 remapped (software only), but when I spoke to my insurance company they would not insure it remapped. I specified the increase in power (when asked) would be around 30% based on 'forum' reports and a bit of digging. I have since contacted a...
