    Defender Td5 Running issues!

There might be residual oil in the wiring loom that has the red plug on it. Continue to clean it out for the next few weeks. Might solve your problems Ken

    New Starter Motor?

Could be the contacts have twisted when tightening the wires to the bolts. This is what happened to mine, leaving me with similar issues. Had to rebuild, and ensure contacts tight before connecting the wires outside. Good luck Ken

2005 TD5 Defender no power to Small wire on starter

Well the random no start continued, so figured I would change out the solenoid of the starter. After some fluffing around, got the parts, and installed. Only mild swearing was needed to get the starter back in place. Fired up first time, and every time since. So far happy. Photo shows old...

    Some problems with electrics solved!

I have a 2005 TD5 Defender, which has been having various electrical issues. From starting problems, no fuel pump, windows don't work, and Air con not working. Have replaced multiple relays, and have a bag full of 8 that are now spares. On replacing relays, items would work for a short while...

2005 TD5 Defender no power to Small wire on starter

Yes, it appears to have power. Just didn't think there was power when I measured it. The plug is a plastic piece, with the metal plug inside. When I tried to crimp it, I didn't want to move without breaking it. Will talk with my local mechanic, and get his advice. Thanks for the replies.

2005 TD5 Defender no power to Small wire on starter

He everyone. Well, got it running. Turned out to be the plug on the small pin for the starter. It is loose, and I still have to sort it, but can't get to it easily. I didn't want to crimp it any more without speaking with someone who is familiar with this kind of plug. I ended up pulling...

2005 TD5 Defender no power to Small wire on starter

I have a TD5 Defender, and when I tried to start it the other day, lights on dash came on, could hear fuel pump, but nothing from the starter motor when I tried to start. Have checked fuses, and relays, all seem fine. When I checked the small wire connection to the starter there was no power...

    Gear knob insert

I had mine fail, and just cleaned out most of the rubber from the gear knob. I then filled it up with silicone roof sealant, and put it back on the gear lever. Let it dry, and it holds perfectly. It still has some compliance, and feels like stock.

    No ECU

I might be needing a replacement ECU for my 2005 TD5 Defender. My very knowledgable mechanic said a Discovery 2 one would work if re programmed, but need one from a manual transmission D2. That might be the stumbling block, as not many D2's were sold in manual transmission. Good luck with...
