    I got the car from a friend who had purchased it from new. He also had problems with the turbo, was on its third by 20,000 miles, but on the last one they changed the intercooler & map and from then on it was good. I always found the handbrake pretty useless thinking about it.

    Can't say that about ours. bought it at 242,000 miles, used it hard, sold it three years later at 280,000 and it was still doing the same mpg as when it was new.
