Not sure if its the same rattle but I had one a few days ago, only happened when ticking over, as soon as I revved it it went away.
Looked underneath and found that the exhaust was touching the gearbox bell housing ever so slightly, after looking further found that the rubber on the back box...
Same thing happened on my 300, car was stuck for hours, did the wheel wiggle and the key, left an hour or two then tried again and eventually it worked.
This happened alot and slowly got worse, in the end sprayed inside the lock with magic spray ( WD40 ) and its never stuck since.
Hense the £840 price tag, the dealers dont sell the switch with the back plate. If you buy the switch you get just the switch.
Stealers fit a whole new wheel including airbag. . . .the wheel alone is £500.
Got my kit off ebay but I made sure the plate came with it, kit cost just over £40...
Dont bother changing rear prop the original is fine and can cope with the lift it being longer than the front prop.
In some cases a spacer may need fitting, mine needed one but my mates never, fits on diff flange, got mine from wizardbiltz for £15
Never had a problem with wobble and since fitting the td5 prop never had a uj problem.
RAZ: you will need a TD5 drive flange at the transferbox end bolts straight on as a replacement.
Paid £80 for a secondhand prop and the flange is a further £40 from LR dealer.
A modified prop =...
On the rear the original prop will surfise but on the front the uj's cant take the angles of lift and eventually wear out.
The solution is either 30 degree increased angle prop which arent cheap or do as I did and fit a TD5 front prop, they are double cardon jointed and solve the problem.
I've had a 4" lift on mine for 2 years now and not yet fitted cranked arms on the front and only just fitted rear ones.
Got extended brake lines fitted.
Front prop caused a few problems so fitted a td5 prop and that is basically all I have done.
Hope this helps
Hi Daz, not seen your rangie knocking about the quay, you may have seen my blue 300tdi disco though, you would remember if you had it is quite high and rather BLUE
And there was me going to go in search of the white stuff and if no joy would at least find plenty of the brown stuff after travelling on the black stuff in my blue thing.
That I conclude is my very explanitary answer.
Just a thought but is it possible to have areas on here so we can see who is local in order to maybe plan trips out etc.
Thinking maybe areas like south west, south east, midlands, north west, north east, wales and scotland.
Hi boydy,
Not sure how far your prepared to travel being a poor student but if you wish to join up with us at some point feel free to come along, we dont normally head out your way too often but do head into wales ( denbighshire , conway, ciriog valley )
