300 came in EDC and mechanical so he’d have to make sure he got mechanical. Think all 300tdi mechanical pumps are same.

Looks like we are ready for welding. That sandwich a pillar/inner wing panel is the trickiest thing I’ve done to date. Everything fits though!! 😎

Lots of measuring and a test fit of the panel I’ve had to made that slots from the inner wing, under the bulkhead interior bar and onto the a pillar. It’s about there. Just need to clean the sheet and panels ready for welding.

Sometimes I do actually think like this 😂. Anyone can own a d2 though. Maybe not one like that - I’ve never seen that interior before - gorgeous. One has to earn their d1 - not many clean and I’d bet that every single one has rust, despite what car and classic adds say.

😂 you physically cannot keep it clean enough with a make shift! Thanks, deliberated over colour for ages but always thought the one on Haynes manual looked such a good colour. I think it’s quite close!

Wing now finished. A lot learnt. Especially about staying perfectly clean. Facerla g3 followed by ultimate polish on a finishing pad.

Cheers both. I’ve got a couple new finishing pads which should take it up to near perfect. Just doing a couple panels at a time whilst learning. Only the door and wing done so far in colour. There are a few errors here n there. I somehow dripped water on the door so it’ll either buff out or need...

It’s a tidy finish after lots of wet sanding and compound lol. It’s not great out the gun but once sanded and buffed it’s as good as I could hope. No orange peel at all now
