D2 ACE & steering fluid problem

I've been watching it carefully. The ACE level is dropping slowly, but I'm wondering if what I saw on the PS side was frothing as fluid returned (engine running). Whatever, the front ACE ram is covered in fluid now, so I think that is where the problem lies. I could change the ram myself, but...

D2 ACE & steering fluid problem

Ha, the old hose-swapping fairy has been at it again! Seriously the fluid was changed 2 years ago and nothing has been worked on in that area since. Looks like I will have to get my hands dirty....again!

D2 ACE & steering fluid problem

Thanks guys. No, the ACE level went right down and the PS side went right up and overflowed. I'm now watching it very carefully. Paranoia has nothing on me!

D2 ACE & steering fluid problem

Hi. I just wondered if anyone has seen this before. 2002 D2, the ACE fluid seems to be transferring to the power steering side - ACE goes down, PS goes up! I know they are the reservoirs are in the same unit, but I understand that the two systems are otherwise separate. My best guess at the...

    Spare part

Hi. I've just replaced the head gasket on my 2002 TD5 Disco. Job went tolerably well, and the truck is running again, but.....rather embarrassingly I have a spare part! I know I took it off, but I can't for the life of me see where it came from. Pictures attached. It looks like a water flow...

Help please - crankshaft position sensor wiring

Hi....help please!! Just put a refurbished gearbox in my 2002 TD5 Disco. It's bolted up ready to be raised for the gearbox mounts, but when I came to reconnect the crankshaft position sensor, I find that the plug is only connected by one of the two wires - the white one. The black wire comes...

    Gearbox removal

Thanks for your answer. It's leaking down the back of the engine somewhere, but I just can't see it. It comes down the back of the engine then gets smeared all over the bellhousing and gearbox. Tried replacing and reseating the rocker cover gasket several times with no effect. Maybe I'll be...

    Gearbox removal

Hi. 2002 TD5, and the gearbox has started 'whirring'. I gather this is wear in the rear gearbox bearings, so a refurb unit is required. I'm happy taking the gearbox out, but the engine itself does leak oil. I was wondering about removing the engine and gearbox together so I can fix both...
