Front air suspension leak at top nut - L322

hi Neil, I did reset the system, I have the iCarsoft gizmo for reading and erasing trouble codes. Have you tried resetting the steering angle sensor by turning the steering wheel from lock to lock a few times with the engine running? cheers Rick

Front air suspension leak at top nut - L322

hi Neil, Sorry it's taken a while to get back to you. Sounds like you had the same problem I did, no instructions for non-Arnott springs! I didn't get any joy asking for any, either. Think the top seals are 3 nylon and 2 rubber o-rings. They go over the thread on the top of the strut (nylon...

Front air suspension leak at top nut - L322

Now I have the 'air susp inactive' message and the compressor won't run. Hope it's not been overloaded and gone duff. Will perform the steering reset.

Front air suspension leak at top nut - L322

Seems to be sitting fine, it's leaking air from under the top nut.

Front air suspension leak at top nut - L322

They say "Sorry to tell you we don't have the instructions at present. Any help, feel free to contact us". So that's any help except about the new bag...

Front air suspension leak at top nut - L322

@chicken @Saint.V8 - yes I have looked at the site and the vid. He used Arnott units which have the big o-rings captive and there's no mention of top seals at all. My unit is OEM-style ie without the aluminium top section so needed the lower o-rings fitting manually. It seems the job of sealing...

M62 crank holding tool help / advice please

I rode my luck in the end - there wasn't time to pull the camshafts and give them the squeeze test. All's well, though, it runs more quietly than I can recall. Now I just need to sort out an air leak from one of the front struts (have started a new thread here). Probably my bad but I can't work...

Front air suspension leak at top nut - L322

Hi everyone, I've looked high and low on the interwebs for this info to no avail, so am hoping someone out there can help. I've just fitted a new pattern air bag to the front right strut (L322, 2004) and it's leaking air from under and around the top nut ie the one at the top of the strut...

M62 crank holding tool help / advice please

You make a good point, but I can't stretch to replacing the whole lot with new at the moment :(. Thinking to sort the noise now and replace them all next time I have it apart...

M62 crank holding tool help / advice please

Got it off! Thanks everyone for the advice - holding tool, 3/4" t-bar and about 5' of scaffold pole did the trick. Now for the timing chain guides and to locate any dodgy lifters. Does anyone know where to get second hand lifters? I see sets of many on eBay but shouldn't need more than a couple...

M62 crank holding tool help / advice please

Right, 3/4" T-bar and holding tool are ordered and on the way. Chicken, those don't look like the standard bolts, are they some sort of high tensile thing?

M62 crank holding tool help / advice please

Thanks everyone. Yes, YouTube is crawling with demonstrations of the starter motor trick, but no L322s at all (I've looked). Shudder to think what would happen ... I think I'll look into a serious new breaker bar, maybe 1". Hopefully then it will outlast more than one bolt! With luck I'll...

Wow. Thanks guys, looks like I'd better get me the holding tool. I'll come back with a grunt-by-grunt report...

Jeepers, you broke the bar or the socket or both? Has anyone ever even heard of successfully undoing one of these with impact?

M62 crank holding tool help / advice please

Hi everyone, I'm in the process of replacing the timing chain and guides on my 2004 L322 (M62 engine). All was going swimmingly until I got to the crank pulley bolt (aka the Jesus bolt, and for good reason). My impact wrench (rated at 450nm, mains powered as I don't have a compressor) isn't man...

No laughing please (!) but I use an old gate hinge with the screw hole at the end enlarged to fit over one of the bolt heads on the pulley on the engine side. Angle it to go into the recess, put the hole over one bolt head and hold the edge of the hinge against a second bolt. Then standard 32mm...

    Hello from Hitchin!

Oo, thanks for that. When I say "back on the road" I mean "back off road" too!
