We had this same problem and found this thread in an effort to find a solution. We ended up buying a new alternator from ebay (LAND ROVER FREELANDER II 3.2 i6 NEW BOSCH ALTERNATOR A3460) which, I'm pleased to say, fixed the problem. Everything has worked perfectly since. Hope this helps.
