    Hi I now have tested it the correct way and earthed the meter and put it in pin 3 which is brown/black on this model freelander I am getting 12v So it means there is a problem with the earth

    i am colour blind I asked someone about the wire colours The connector you plug the rear of rotary into is brown and yellow(pin 3) Pin 4 is black The door locks are ok It was just because i was locking them open. The rear window only opens when i re connect battery

    Do you mean take a live feed from somewhere else? One other thing is now the electrics ate going weird. The rear window opens when i turn ignition and when i press the remote the o/s door lock has a little fit

    I wonder if the + comes direct from the fusebox under bonnet. The fuses are all ok The alarm beeps horns Just concerned as the bloke from the garage answered he would have to take all the wiring apart when i asked about faults and what i had tested

    If i am it either means no earth (-) or no positive (+) If i try running the test from whatever is the positive to the nearest earth connector on the bodywork i should then see if there is a problem with the + ???? I am not sure what to do

    I just put a meter on the connector pins 3 and 4 and set it to read volts (dc) It read 0.03 v So no power Am i correct doing that?

    Actually that must be the case as all it is is a switch (horn button) How can i test if there is power going into the connector?

    there are wires that are attached to the connector that you plug the rear of the rotary coupling in. This connector joins the rotary c then after the rotary c it attaches to the connector for the horn buttons (+ the volume control for stereo) So going back to the connector that you plug the...

    Yeah i took it out and ran a meter from contact to contact. I wound it and tested in incase there was a break in one of the wires that would detache and reattach Its basically just a ribbon wound on a plastic spool with contact pins on either side of the spool. I really dont get whats going...

    I brought a freelander mk4 2002 I brought it of a dodgy car salesman. It passed mot. I then received car. First time i tried horn it didnt work. I doubt the mot bloke would pass it not working but he does all his cars etc. Itvwent for mot failed only on horn Horns work when locking with bonnet...

    Hi I am a new member When you say stalk do you mean the clip connector? When i press buttons on wheel no voltage to horn(tested with meter as well) (Both horns work as alarm runs both as both beep on locking when bonnet open) I tested rotary coupler Its ok I tested buttons on wheel both ok...
