    Diff preload after pinion seal

Evening all The pinion oil seal was replaced on our freelander 2 weeks ago and it has now started to whine when off the throttle under engine breaking. This seem to me to be a preload on the diff issue. I can also feel a small amount of play near the pinion bearing. I know there should be some...

Would any of the shropshire lanes be suitable for a freelander. :) i used to enjoy greenlaning on my trailbike and would love to try so gentle stuff in the freelander.

    Freelander 1 pinion oil seal

Many thanks all, it was the pinion oil seal, our local guy is fixing it at a good price so letting him do it. I would like to have had a go but didn't seem worth stressing. The breather is on the small pipe on the diff isn't it.

TD4 Clutch pedal up too high

If it's a Brit part one the clips inside break easily. I had one go when i first got the Freelander and didn't know the extent of the crapness of britpart lol. Got a LUK one now and it's a diffrent car. Clutch is much nicer and lost most of the dead spot you get on some freelanders.

Evening all and hi as me and my good lady are new to the landy world. :) There is a slight oil leak from the diff pinion oil seal. I would like to replace this seal when the VCU is changed but the talk of bearing preload has me scared. My thoughs are it probably isn't that bad if the...

    Another victim :)

Hi all new to the highs and lows of Land rover ownership, we're from the midlands and have bought a Freelander for light offroading/greenlaning and camping. Already we know the joy of a good running landy and the lows of a poorly one but hope it will all be worth it when it's 100% :)
