These symptoms sound suspiciously like ones I had a year ago. Turned out to need the liners replacing due to a corroded water gallery. It wasn't liner slip, it leaked under pressure between the liner and the block into the cylinder, then out the exhaust. All the other symptoms were there also...

Well, a visit to the local main dealer confirmed my theory that the Disco 2 CVs don't require the spacer. According to the parts catalogue it is a Disco 1\Defender\RR Classic only item. On that basis I'll leave it as is!

I certainly think picking the right sealant is key to the deal, & the mentioned one sounds good. I chose a PU sealant just based on guidelines for stuff like caravan windows.
