Ok so realising that it was time to change the manifold/inlet manifold gasket thing on me 1962 S2a 88" petrol I have hit a problem,, one of the studs in the cylinder head has rusted to bugger and is also quite partial to staying put.... Any ideas on getting this out???? I did try to use the...
if you still looking i have said item.. the only thing wrong with it is that the front outriggers been changed to s2 ones, apart from that its in pretty damn fine condition,,,, hmm might add that its got parts bolted to it also... pm me if you want more info..
I tried knocking the shafts to no avail, what I did was the last resort basically without removing the gearbox.
Try knocking the shaft dude, it may just be that with any luck but go easy..... Oh and the mate I did this for, Well he comes round from time to time but only when he wants...
Ok my mate had this trouble and this is basically what I did, removed both props (front and back), disconnected the big red lever and the likkle yellow one, undid the gearbox mount bolts ( the transmission mounting assembly ones if you wanna get technical ) on the output shaft side, then undid...
Ok found it, knew it was in one of these books I got.
It's the rear end cover for the camshaft as you suspected and there's a nice joint washer in there also.
There are no springs or anything that look likely to pop out and scare you:p

Well after I put FWH onto my '62 I noticed one hell of a difference, mind you it was about the same time that I removed the hardtop and put canvas on ... Oh and I took the winch off the front,,,,, Hmmmm well they on there now anyway....

You could try and do it yourself dude, Mine (S2a)was jumping out of 3rd constantly and in the end I just decided to try it myself working through it step by step in the book and 3 yrs later it's still good ( apart from the trans oil seal leak that I am now doing :().
