Possible VCU problem - South Wales

I wish I could say that I could do it myself, but when it comes to this sort of stuff I'm more inclined to leave it to people like yourself Hippo, people in the know.

Possible VCU problem - South Wales

Thanks for the help guys. Took it to a local Land Rover specialist today after checking the serial number on the VCU (turns out it was the original). He thinks that it's definitely on its way out & while I guess he could just be thinking of the money, I figure it's better to be safe than sorry...

Possible VCU problem - South Wales

Tbh I'm something of a worrier when it comes to things like this anyway. As for my reasoning, it may seem like a bit of an overreaction but it was based on this: In my old car (a Kia Soul) if I was pulling into a parking space on full lock, I could just put the clutch in and coast into the...

Possible VCU problem - South Wales

Yep, got a full set of matching tyres, though there's not much life left in them. Really should get a new set. As for mileage, it's on about 132k miles, but I've got no documentation of previous work shop no idea if the vcu has already been replaced.

Possible VCU problem - South Wales

Okay folks, based on everything you told me I went out and tried the lot. I tried full-lock in reverse again & noticed no obvious resistance or engine braking aside from what you would usually get. I tried jacking the back wheel and rotating it in 1st gear with the handbrake off. It rotated...

Possible VCU problem - South Wales

Well it looks like I may have to put my replacement ignition on hold :) I might be over-reacting, having only had this car a week, but I'm a bit concerned about the VCU. The horror stories of what can happen if it packs in have put me a bit on edge. I was thinking it might be in my best...

    Keys fell out of Ignition!

Had my fingers crossed with the WD40, but no luck I'm afraid. Took a look and managed to find a barrel and key from a breaker for £25, I'll just have to deal with using one key for the locks and another for the ignition. Think I'm going to try fitting it myself, from what I've read it doesn't...

My first Landrover - Freelander TD4 Hardback

Hi folks, New to these parts & was advised that I should properly introduce myself. Recently purchased my first Landrover, a Freelander *waits for laughter to subside* & got to say I'm loving it. Unlike every other car I've owned, I can actually fit in this one! I'm willing to admit it's...

    Keys fell out of Ignition!

Hi guys, hoping for some assistance with a bit of an unusual issue (for me at least). Bought my Freelander a few weeks ago and up until today no problems to report. Driving home from work today however and noticed that my key was sticking out of the ignition a little further than usual. When...
