Small, removable rubber button on side of battery

I recently fitted a new Exide 017TE battery (100 Ah, 900 CCA, though that's probably irrelevant to my question). On one side there's a tiny rubber "button" (stopper), which can be pulled out. So far I haven`t pulled it out, because I don't know what it's for/what purpose it serves. Could anyone...

    Decent digital voltmeter?

Sorry about my lack of clarity as to what I need. I just want to be able to check my vehicle's batteries, not mount anything on the dash, etc. The simpler the device, the better.

"Both batteries must be the same type"?

So a 110 Ah /800 CCA would work with a 100 Ah /900 CCA? Not ideal but close enough?

    Decent digital voltmeter?

I want to buy a digital voltmeter but looking at customer reviews, so many of them seem to be crap and fall apart before they’re taken out of the box, or they fail to function. Can anyone recommend a worthwhile one, not too expensive ?

"Both batteries must be the same type"?

With regard to having in parallel two batteries of different specifications, I read the following: "They can be very different, as long as they are the same chemistry. The same chemistry is match a flooded with a flooded. AGM with AGM, Gel with Gel, etc. Otherwise you are good."

How to run 24-volt DC in LR?

On the device it says 1.25A (FG) // 3.75A (Sys). Does that make sense? I don't know what FG means. Sys. could mean "system". My Landy's a Defender 110. Could you get a second 24v alternator and a couple of batteries to run it off? Two batteries in parallel in there now. Is it...

"Both batteries must be the same type"?

Hey MHM, I read all the thread. popotla probably appreciated your advice and was just asking for clarification, maybe not very well expressed. "Discussion? No discussion ....... mommie's permission"???? So let's move on. When you say "must be same CCA", do you mean exactly the same, or can...

How to run 24-volt DC in LR?

I have a medical device that requires 24V DC and runs off the mains via a transformer. I use it every night for a period of around eight hours (while sleeping) and shall have to continue to use it while on the road, sleeping in my vehicle, which could be every night. I have a 1000-W inverter...

Why does a battery have high cranking amps but low Ah?

Hi, I'm new here. Hoping there's somewhere there can help with a battery question. An Odyssey PC1500 with cranking amps of 1500 seems like a mighty powerful battery but why is it only 68 Ah rating. I thought this rating should be high, like 110, say. there's something I don't understand...
