Thanks for this , it does seem a particularly complicated system for a 2001 vehicle, as I said locksmith said no transponder / chip in my key so do not under stand how the cars systems are interacting with the key. It either has a chip which is coded to the ignition or not, locksmith says not ?

I thought that a quick test of the MAF ? mass air meter ? I call them (which is the black plastic bit from the air filter to the turbo) was to disconnect it and if the truck ran better then its fecked, certainly without the diagnostic kit or wanting to dick about with voltmeters etc its a quick...
