    P38A Horn connector

Maybe one for @pwood999 ? I used my horn the other day and wasn't very impressed. Then I heard @MrGorsky 's horn and it didn't sound like mine. A little investigation revealed my right hand horn was a) loose and b) not working. If you take the grill and slam panel off and then remove the...

    P38A V8 waterpump

Later v8 with the Thor engine. Anyone know who the original manufacturer was? Is it like the diesel and there's a metal impellar version that is preferred over the original? Recommendations?!

P38A [Failing to] syncing the key using lock ...

Hi all, Having put the engine back together, neither keys will sync. Earlier today I got the Nonocom out and had a play. Tried clearing RF memory - nothing. I even tried triggering the locks with the Nanocom rather than using the key ion the lock but still no joy. Central locking works fine...

    P38A Diesel (M51 2.5 L) head gasket kit STC3694 (RA20008?)

Anyone ever seen inside or know what is included in the Land Rover genuine head gasket kit, part number STC3694? I think the part number might have changed to RA20008 for some of the after-market kits. I tried one once and remember that a) it didn't include the head gasket, arguably the most...

    P38A Diesel losing coolant.

Still losing coolant. Viscous fan roars and seems to be OK. Thermostat replaced. UV dye put in coolant but no sign of it coming out anywhere. On a 10 mile run I am losing a litre of coolant. The only place I can think it is going is the exhaust via the head gasket - which was replaced 2 years...

    Other Smart alternators

Not the Rangie but the Jag, more specifically, its alternator. The battery is only a year old but a few times recently it felt a bit sluggish on turnover. Charged the battery and then started it and tested voltage across the battery - 13.7V. switched on every electric thing I could find and...

    P38A Gearbox cooler pipes (manual)

Anyone got any idea what size and threads the fittings are on the transmission oil cooler pipes are on the manual box? The bodgit I did last year with Quiksteel has failed and the underneath is mucky. MoT test soon and I need to fix it. Not only is finding the replacement parts tricky it is...

    For Sale L322 bits

3 wheel nuts (Britpart) from an L322 but will probably fit a RRS. 2 are still in the packet. A set of glow plugs. I think these are for the TD6 fitted to the L322. No brand but still in the packet. They're very long and thin. Free to a good home but you'll have to pick them up or pay for postage.

    P38A Brakes!

Hi all, Collective thinking required, please. Yesterday I jumped in the P38A to nip to the shops. The 3 amigos took a little longer to go out than usual and then I set off. I touhed the brake and the pedal went all the way to the floor! Furiously pumping the car came to a standstill. I then...

    P38A Engine overhaul.

Hi all, As some of you know my #5 cylinder was blowing into the coolant on my 2.5 DT. The head is off awaiting pressure testing and I am wondering what else I might as well do while she's apart. Timing chains and sprockets seem sensible at 170k miles. How about turbo refurb? I think @Mark...

    P38A Reversing light switch

P38 manual box, 1995 oil burner. Possibly a question for @briansp38dse as I think he's been here before ... I'm having to wiggle the gearstick more and more often to get the reverse lights to light up and suspect the switch is giving up the ghost. I cannot remember where the switch is but...

    P38A Diagnostic port

Looking at the OBD plug on the scrapper because it doesn't work. There's a spare red and grey wire at the back. Is that normal?! Should it go somewhere? No spare bits of metal that I can see. Checked all fuses in BECM and they're all good. Any other ideas? I think this isn't @tomcat59alan 's...

    P38A Replacing brake lines.

@brianp38dse popped up today and we had a go at my brakelines. As others have noted these are attached to the body of the car before it is lowered onto the chassis. Access is not easy. There are 2 layouts for RHD cars (mirrored for LHD). The pipes for the rear go down the drivers side on the...

    P38A interior light

Hi all, my LHS (near side) interior light hasn't worked in ages. I did have a play a few years ago but then it dropped down my priority list. Today I decided to have a fiddle. Marty very kindly sent me this: "The interior lights are all driven off the same circuit in the BECM, and then they...

    P38A airbag fault ...

So it has finally stopped raining, or at least steady spots and warmish which is equivalent to a Lancastrian summer so I decided to investigate my Airbag Fault message from last year on my 1995 diesel. Nanocom says bulb open circuit which sounds simple but both bulbs work fine in their little...

    P38A EAS lines

Today I replaced my rear airbags. All went smoothly, I thought. Started her up and went for a short run and all seemed good.
