    Weber DMTL sudden Idle issues...

So at this point I've had the jets out several times, cleaned the float bowls, put it back together. Then on testing it I found the idle cut-off solenoid seemed to be stuck out, so changed that for the one on the old carb that worked fine. I thought I'd cracked it but it then seemed to be...

    Weber DMTL sudden Idle issues...

Right so last weekend after replacing my trailing arm bushes, I decided to go out for a drive... I pulled up to some traffic lights and could hear a missfire, which got a bit worse and then ultimately it just cut out. I managed to start the engine again but it was rough and cut out again...

    Project value?

Hmmm, of course they did! Someone clearly having second thoughts, of they've told the wife and she said not a chance :D

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

I went for the cheap option, only about £300! I got one of those chinese made Static arc MIGs and bit the bullet and got a proper gas bottle to go with as I knew I needed to go gas really. But it totally paid for itself just for this one job so definitely worth it, and now I can weld up my...

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

Oh no! Mine had a couple of small bits in the same places, seems like a common place to start rusting through. For me it went from investigating why there was a circular plate screwed onto the crossmember, to cutting some holes, buying a new welder and then welding in 3 patches!

    Project value?

What did you put it up for out of interest? I mean it is still generally hard times for people but there will be plenty out there with cash waiting for the right project. You can't really go too far wrong with something thats already been swapped to a galv chassis. If I saw this come up at...

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

I'm not sure how many more new tools my shed can take :D Yeah I mean its fun up to a point, but it does get a little frustrating when I can't take her out for a drive when I feel like it. I'm trying to get more things sorted now as I want to take her over to Arran at the end of July when I go...

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

I don't have much experience of either side yet really, but at least poly bushes are much easier to change again. I didn't even get much of a test drive in as the damn thing decided to start cutting out on me after like 15 mins. I thought I was out of petrol as the gauge is inaccurate at...

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

I was just replacing those ones with black poly bushes as I knew I'd be struggling to replace like for like without a press etc.

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

So today I've finished off changing my trailing arm bushes, got one done yesterday and did the other today, so that's the pair done and cleaned up/painted. I only had to cut one bolt as well so that's a win, some kind previous owner put copper grease on the big bolts! I've also now perfected...

    Land Rover mechanic course

Youtube is a very good resource to help tackle a lot of DIY jobs etc these days. Ultimately as a lot of people say Land Rovers are just giant meccano sets, everything is just fixed together in one way or another and can be unbolted etc. I've never had any training, I currently work in IT but...

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

Today I did the massive long job of cracking off the big nut on one of my rear trailing arms... I thought I'd see how tight it was as the front bush is well past its best and needs replaced. It turns out the answer is not that tight... hopefully the rest will be like this when my new bushes...

    DPF

I don't have a Landy with a DPF, but I'm very familiar with them from other cars... So as lynall says above, it will be because of something else either failing or not happening. The typical issue you see is people driving around with the fuel light on, or only doing short trips which doesn't...

    Steering lock

Security is like a multi layered approach.... is a decent steering wheel lock better than nothing? Absolutely, but combine that with a few other things and you'll make thieves go after someone else's car instead. Also where you live is important too, I've probably gone a bit over the top...

Lost me clutch, thoughts? Found the fault with a pic.

I do fear mine might be one of those! 1988 but only covered 84k as it's sat off the road from 2001-2024. Although I do have a feeling she's had engine work done at some point before being laid up so maybe... I'll have to try and check if possible before any long trips.

Lost me clutch, thoughts? Found the fault with a pic.

This thread has got me slightly paranoid about my clutch fork giving up now! I guess there's not really much you can do to check it without actually having the box out? Unless you can take the slave cylinder out and get an endoscope in if there's enough space?

Help required, rear brake drum removal.

This is exactly what I've been finding out on my 110 so far... There is no such thing as an easy/quick job, every job is a struggle and becomes a bigger task than it should be  Although mines a 1988 and been heavily waxoiled in the past, I imagine it's better to work on that some...

Help required, rear brake drum removal.

Is it definitely stuck? no movement at all between that and the hub? I mean I'm not an expert but having done mine recently I'd just be beating it with a hammer on the sides of the drum. I don't think you're supposed to as I imagine they could crack being cast but if there's few other...

    F****** halfwits!

Absolutely, but the point I was getting at is do they know any better? Who's telling them what they should and shouldn't be doing? Who are the good examples to follow? Ok you could argue that they should've all read the GLASS guidelines etc but I can imagine a lot of people don't. Again I'm...

    F****** halfwits!

IMO this is what happens when it gets to the point where TD5 discos are cheap as chips and plentiful. Any idiot with a couple of grand spare can pick up a D2/3 or an older Range rover... or any other flavour of cheapo 4x4. Although to play devils advocate is there a wider issue with clubs not...
