    Undersealing - a concensus ?

Yup that's old school, exactly what I was taught by my grandfather - he protected all his cars that way, he always flooded cavities (didn't have a spray but had a 'hand pump') and put trays under drain holes to catch the run off when he uncorked them ;-) - he never used Waxoyl - just waste...

    S1 Wheels will not turn

Back wheels won't turn when both off the ground sounds like brakes unless the difflock is engaged - did a series one have a rear axle difflock? - I've never worked on one. +1 on the brakes but how hard did you try to rotate the wheels - have you tried dragging it with another vehicle sometimes...

    Undersealing - a concensus ?

You know if you could get the box completely dry inside - maybe get it all ventilated with air at 100 degrees or so for a couple of hours, foam it, that may not be such a bad idea to preserve an old and fading chassis, not sure how you could be sure to get in all the corners but perhaps drill...

    Undersealing - a concensus ?

Getting a car like a landrover high is the bain of life since I am not in the motor trade any more - not for some time - and it is the only way to do a thorough job. When we cleaned truck's and other plant we'd wear what was almost a wetsuit, put the vehicle on 8ft high ramp / deck and blast...

    Undersealing - a concensus ?

Right now it is looking like a few dirty weekends with Dinitrol 3125 ... really not a job I like or even want to do but praying to the rust god is mandatory with landrovers. Based on what I can see on my Disco 2 they didn't bother there ass protecting the chassis with anything internal or...

    Undersealing - a concensus ?

I have avoided hard coatings such as the bitumen paint for a long time now. If water gets behind it then significant damage is done before it is visible. One thing that I have done is clamp a sacrificial anode to the rear cross member (get them from most boat chandlers) this should in theory...

    Undersealing - a concensus ?

Waxoyl done right every couple of years but be prepared it is a nasty nasty job - very hard to spray properly even heated since it can cool and clog pipes for fun if the temperature isn't right outside, it is OK on large easy to get at surfaces but getting it into cavities successfully is...

    Injectors

Tell me about it - if they had been green tops they wouldn't be there any more ;) - given that his statement re "eye watering" regarding new ones is very accurate. He reckons they are black tops but you can clearly see green plug sockets, they came from a 2003 so it is 'borderline' whether they...

    1.003 or 1.211 ?

If you want 70 at 2500 rpm you need to change your diffs too I think - check out Ashcroft transmissions calculator but you need to know your own starting numbers before you start playing. 70 in 5th on the Disco I have is a shade over 2600rpm from memory.

    Undersealing - a concensus ?

Just been trawling through the multitude of 'undersealing' threads - or should I say arguments and yet seem to have found no concensus as to which is the better method or material. I have got to be honest in my past I have both Waxoyled and oil sprayed. The Waxoyl a nasty horrid job and a...

MPG - Heater on/off whats the difference?

+1 for no difference +1 for if you want economy why choose a Landrover - in fact why a 4x4 -1 for get a Defender if mpg is an issue - their economy is poor because of the box ratio's (no I'm not anti Defender, for a working 4x4 it's a damn good choice - just not in winter and not without ear...

    Swaying? any ideas

I'd go along with the axle moving. I think more likely the panhard links allowing an axle to move out of line, not resisting the torque from the diff sufficiently I think the radius arms are for castor correction only (scrubs tyres off if not right) but they can move to so don't disregard...

    Satnav Module??

It was a Landrover unit, Landrover written all over it but the manufacturer was a German company called Becker. The actual Becker model number I couldn't say they have a few that 'look' the same. One thing I did find is that they are very very very fussy about dust and dirt so you could try a...

    TD5 Occassional power loss

Revving hard form cold - mega mega bad idea for all kinds of reasons. Black smoke is unburnt fuel so either too much fuel or too little air. Check hoses etc as suggested then get the diagnostics / error codes read, and cleared, when it happens again read the codes again.
  17. B

    1.003 or 1.211 ?

Unless you have serious power you won't be able to hold higher gears, although the engine would turn over slower it wouldn't generate sufficient torque to keep you moving so you'd end up in a lower gear which kind of defeats the reasoning for the 1.003 - if that makes any sense. That diff ratio...

    Satnav Module??

2k is about standard for 'sub standard' factory fit sat navs which are generally poor. I ripped my 'standard' landrover one ( a Becker text only unit) out the second week I had the car ... garbage of the worst kind ... no updates available and even for a two your out of date disc landrover still...

    Satnav Module??

You sure the UK disc is working ? my guess is the DVD is more likely to be shot than the unit in the car if it will start with the SA disc.
