I'll ask my mate too because I'm sure he tried this, I admit that it sounds like you can do it that way.

Power problem at 3500rpm please help :(

The MAF is simply to manage the EGR which by the sound of that is still attached and malfunctioning as a result of a bad MAF. Just run without it. I'd get it replaced eventually but no rush really - get rid of that EGR !!

Good to hear you got it off the to do list. Concentrate on other things now.

Does anyone know this S2? PBF559J

Oh its ludicrous alright, all you need to take is the bodyshell / chassis with the numbers clearly identifiable and your done. My mate didn't just handed it to one of these drive by scrap collectors - now he's screwed. The kicker just as a footnote is that now the insurance rules apply too, so...

Does anyone know this S2? PBF559J

Well a friend of mine broke his Nissan and they won't accept it - he still has to declare sorn every damned year so it is based on experience not hearsay - they won't accept it - he has tried, they want a 'certificate of destruction' from an approved source. Source >> Here It isn't I that...

    for sale again

Nope never get back what you spend, if you are insane enough to spend that amount then then it is should only be on a car that you plan to keep for a very long time. I wish you luck with the sale, I'm not doubting the time money and effort that has been expended but I wouldn't be holding my...

    2002 Defender TD5 Injector Overfueling?

Running again like before as in sorted and running OK or still like a bag of nails. If you do tackle the shuttle valve the info in that guide will mean the three amigos if they come back will be a genuine fault - not a broken wire or dodgy connection - at least on the ABS pump anyhow ;)

loads of eas faults , help needed please

I realise it is bi directional, and also that it can be coming out the exhaust if it is stuck open (since it is a normally closed valve). I'd still expect air to come out of the feed to the reservoir since it is fed almost directly from the compressor. The advice to run the compressor checks...

loads of eas faults , help needed please

If the compressor is running as you say there should be air coming out that pipe. The only thing between it and the compressor is the drier. everything else feeds from this circuit via solenoid valves and a couple of non return valves.

    TD5 Occassional power loss

Partly perhaps but a waste gate that doesn't move can't be ignored ...

loads of eas faults , help needed please

My guess also is a major leak but in common pipework. I did have a diagram but long since gone. One pipe on the reservoir is right but they can leak - mine did - any hissing going on - I know it is hard to hear, trace it back all the way to the compressor and get your soapy water on the job...

    TD5 Occassional power loss

Really sounds like your waste gate isn't functional and overboost for sure will be the result. The EGR can be checked but you need to pull off the large pipe from the intercooler to look inside it - kind of tricky so a mirror and a torch will help but the battery box can get in the way of a...

loads of eas faults , help needed please

Just an input from an ex P38 ... check the reservoir on the car for leaks and all lines to and from it. The valve errors could be red herrings since from my recollection the system uses the height sensors to verify valve operation

    TD5 Occassional power loss

By servicable I meant buying a replacement, if it is I have never seen one in the usual places - but as I said it is still a pump out job. Should be a lot of noise when you initially turn the key, no noise means no pump means no run - could be that you can't hear it through the floor but it...

    TD5 Occassional power loss

To find the red plug you need to remove the screw holding the ECU in - by the cars jack - and lift the whole ECU out - the red plug is at the bottom - quite large and hard to miss. If the plug on the head was oily this will be for sure. No noise from the fuel pump ?? there sure should be but...

Or any landy come to that, thats why I have two of these Anti Ram Bollard blocking access to my driveway. Number 1 you can't get a car past them, number two you can't open my gates without removing them, you sure as **** won't be able to remove them quietly and then there is my perimeter...

Help with loose wheel bearing in hub of sons Scimitar.

You don't say which Scimitar model .... would help. Small SS1 / SST / Sabre no adjustment is possible, you can only buy bearings from 2 suppliers and I don't know if they have stock. For the bigger Scimitars the hubs can be obtained still but it depends on the model (SE4, SE5, SE6 etc etc )...

    What fans?

Depends what you use the car for. When I was a mud seeker I had a pair of 16" Kenlowe's on the Range Rover, each configured to work at different temperatures with a kill switch inside for wading purposes - OK till you forget to turn the buggers back on ... these don't need a shroud of any kind...

I gave up on such things, largely because I got so ****ed off with the damn thing rolling around in the car all the time, always seemed to be in the way. You put on a visible deterrent and all that they do is check it out and then come back later prepared for that deterrent (assuming that they...

Now desperate for ideas! 300Tdi Overrun cutting out problem!

The valve guide type rules only really apply on engines that require manifold depression for operation - petrol - there shouldn't be any of any significance in a diesel, so whatever oil is getting in is being pumped in or via the bores but that would imply overfilling which has already been...
