    Injector Seals - Preventative?

How did you hook up the slide hammer to the injector head to apply the welly without busting the injector? - or the head? I'm guessing you only need enough welly to overcome the 'O' ring resistance - true or false - what are the chances of the copper washer staying in the head?

    Assessing options pre vehicle change

Sorry forgot that bit - yes it has been remapped - twice. Once before the intercooler change and once after. MAF was replaced. What were you towing ?? I have a twin axle box trailer that when loaded isn't far off 2.5 tons. On the flat it's easy but on hills - especially in traffic it SUCKS ...

    Assessing options pre vehicle change

I am considering getting something TD6 and am curious to know how different the power delivery of the TD6 unit is and whether I'm wasting my time considering it. I'd like the answers to come from experience not the BS of motoring press review sites I'm only upgrading because even with the work...

    Injector Seals - Preventative?

So my beastie seems to use no oil - but I'm sure it must since it has 128k on it - but the oil doesn't smell of diesel - but the level hasn't dropped at all in 2000 miles. Could this be regarded as good - I'm a little paranoid perhaps but am considering replacing the injector seals as a 'just...

upgraded vnt turbo to td5 engine ?

I got the 'airflow not used in fuel calculations' from Landrover themselves (well the local stealer) I do agree that there is no concensus whether it is used or not. That is why the MAF on mine is still in place and why I simply installed a small bypass. I was going to have it opened by boost...

upgraded vnt turbo to td5 engine ?

Previous poster is correct you simply connect the old wastegate feed to the new actuator. This isn't the ideal since it can 'theoretically' result in surging but I have never experienced this. I have a Turbo Technics VGT fitted to our Disco 2 but on it's own I doubt you would appreciate the cost...

    Security Devices

Much like the alarm issue, they're OK but at the end of the day how many would take any notice. The noise saying "look somebody is stealing a car" is more likely to make people walk the other way and cops won't respond to car alarms only reported thefts. Would you be brave enough (or dumb...

    Security Devices

At the end of the day there is no way you can stop the pro's completely, beavertails, hi-ab equipped flatbeds, removal vans and winches bypass pretty much everything. The only thing that your uber expensive devices stop is the opportunists but that doesn't stop them smashing stuff up in an...

Odd but loud noise on overrun.

Never really thought about that one, I shall put it on the list, I'm under the thing this weekend replacing the reversing switch and fitting a front push bar anyhow

Cables from Engine bay to Cabin.

Anyone got an easy way to get cables from under the bonnet to inside the cabin, I currently have an EGT and Boost Pressure sensor cable that I need to relocate (currently they come under the A 'Panel' trim and over the door seal). I'd like to put them away properly but every time I get to...

Odd but loud noise on overrun.

Manual TD5 with Turbo Technics VGT and Allard intercooler, De-Cat'd and De-EGR'd. I have what sounds like turbo whistle but it only occurs on overrun and only when facing down hill and it gets loud, starts like a normal turbo whistle and gets louder for a time the longer you are in overrun (it...

Why did you buy a disco!!

Oh I'll tuff it out for now, up until the P38 life with landrover was painless, I have invested heavily in bringing it up to the mark in both time and money. Breakdown I accept but only if it is an issue that couldn't be prevented regardless of maintenance, I think a lot of landrover issues...

Why did you buy a disco!!

Bizarre isn't it, the price difference is hard for me to comprehend too. I'd never select a Defender as a private daily driver ... self abuse and flagellation aren't hobbies I practice these days - life's too short. Given the choice though I'm not sure the Disco would have been top of the list...

    Hi

Then you need to make sure it either has it already or allow £1500 to get it fitted - don't be tempted by cheaper backstreet boys - you will pay the price - only fit the newer multipoint injection versions LPG has come a long way but there is still a lot of crap out there.

    Hi

How do. Car choice is very personal, depends what you want it for, I think for out and out magic carpet it would be the TD6 L322 Range Rover, for a no nonsense workhorse it would be a TD5 Defender 110 double cab perhaps, for a combination of workhorse and family bus it would be a TD6 Disco 3 -...

    Defender navy 110 stolen

Doesn't matter how many keys they give you, nobody really verifies or records it when you get new ones - lost my key need a spare, OK guvner, you don't even need a V5 to do it. I think it is Mercedes that cracked down a lot, now the only place for a key to a new Merc is Mercedes - think it's...

Unfortunately catching isn't convicting, you almost need HD video evidence these days, then you get all the BS excuses from the do gooders (I know how I'd fix them but some might think me a tad radical) then the BS from the Lawyers, the conviction then amounts to a fine that never gets paid and...
