Up the creek and drowning fast... Sheared Spark Plug!!

Tried giving it a knock earlier. Definitely feels like there is some mechanical fixing holding it down. Do you have to take out the injectors or the fuel rail? The electronics have all been removed and the fuel line unplugged from the back. the small bolts that hold on the fuel rail - do...

Up the creek and drowning fast... Sheared Spark Plug!!

Ok, UPDATE: all going well, got right down to inlet manifold (rocker covers off, rocker shafts off & push rods out) Got all 12 bolts out of inlet manifold (as in RAVE) but its stuck fast. I know there is RTV sealant on it, but its held tight as if there are other bolts in it. Any help to...

Up the creek and drowning fast... Sheared Spark Plug!!

Hi Irish, No real history of head gasket problems. The car overheated 3 or 4 times since i've had it, but not since last summer. It uses a small amount of water which whenever i hadn't checked it for a while then it got a bit starved and ran hot. Always stopped imediately and got pretty...

Up the creek and drowning fast... Sheared Spark Plug!!

I dunno Gav, should i get them skimmed? I think i'll need someone to machine out the spark plug so they may skim them at the same time if i want?!?! I read somewhere not to skim them cause whatever shape they are will match the block(?) - any sense in this or should they be skimmed for sure?

Up the creek and drowning fast... Sheared Spark Plug!!

Damnit, meant to also ask: Is it worth replacing the oil pressure switch at the same time? I haven't had any problems (but then never seen it light up the dash) but i read somewhere about just replacing it while access is best

Up the creek and drowning fast... Sheared Spark Plug!!

Thanks Irish & Gav. Definitely starting in the morning now, drafted in my father in law to help! Like the thought of using the baby to get in, that should save my skinned knuckles! Been reading RAVE all morning. Wish i could print all 1361 pages. Looking at Island 4x4 now, i take it part...

Up the creek and drowning fast... Sheared Spark Plug!!

Feeling sorry for myself i have to say, and feeling like i right numpty! I guess it just makes my mind up for me, I'm gonna do the head gaskets (or get them done by someone, haven't decided yet!). Been reading up about it since shearing the head off. Unfortunately the plug is gone from a...

Up the creek and drowning fast... Sheared Spark Plug!!

So I was out trying to sus out a compression leakage, suspected spark plug loose/cross threaded/something. 2nd plug from front on RHS (4.0 year2000) absolutely stuck in, not going anywhere. Started to turn, thought great! Then that moment when the sockets came away and left half the plug in...

Blend motors maybe but possibly something simple to check first??

Before Christmas my alternator fell apart, got traction failure on dash and lost all electrics. Proper failure really, thankfully that was on the way to the auto spark. Since the failure the heater blowers are stuck on one setting, thankfully blowing -if they were off I'd be sunk. I've had new...

    Irish Owners on here.

Hey, count me in on this one. I'm at the opposite end of the country though - seems landyzone is fairly heavily represented in the kerry area!!! Shane

Replacing rear brake pipes (without lifts, on a cold driveway)

Can the pipes be bought, or do you have to just bend & flare them from copper pipe? that'll prob put an end to that idea...

Replacing rear brake pipes (without lifts, on a cold driveway)

Cheers Dave, I'm gonna give it a blast either this weekend or next. I'll need to keep an eye on the weather forecast, although i just got into the car and it said the outside temp was 19degrees... before rapidly dropping down unfortunately... ahhhh, its gonna be cold! definitely would have...

Replacing rear brake pipes (without lifts, on a cold driveway)

Cheers Dave, i take it just follow this (regarding ABS/bleeding): ABS Brake Bleeding Procedure Range Rover 4.0/4.6 Is it as fiddly a job as they make it out to be?

Replacing rear brake pipes (without lifts, on a cold driveway)

Car failed MOT at weekend for rear brake pipes being all old and tired looking. Garage has quoted anything up to 4 hours labour to fit. I'm fairly handy with a spanner, but is it worth me doing the job, bearing in mind I ain't got a lift and will be doing it on a cold driveway with only a...

    P38 4.0 lt V8 lpg....How much MPG????

I get about 180 miles for £35(ish) about 70litres (90ltr donut tank) which I'm fairly happy with. I think its in the region of 12mpg. It'd be great if i could get 14-16, but then i remember it is a 4.0 v8...

    heater only cold

I'm almost as far from somerset as i could get - Belfast, Norn Iron! Its almost a year since i changed the o-rings in the heater matrix - still not sure its been long enough to tackle all that (and more) again!! Oh, and i need 5 new tyres for the MOT in 2weeks!

    heater only cold

Blend Motors? I have a similar issue where the air is only directed to the face/footwell areas - three servo motors operate the system to control temp, distribution and something else (?!) - my distribution servo is kaput But i've got the cheque-book symbol on the screen - is it showing on...

Alternator sounds like a bag of bolts....

At least i hope its the alternator! It seems to be coming from behind the black plastic cover at the back of the alternator. No problems with anything in the car at all. Its almost silent on idle, but when you rev it, it sounds like shaking a bag of bolts. Sound-proofing round the bonnet is...

Hoarec - i think you may be driving my car. Seriously though, i have exactly the same issue. had the wheels balanced, alignment done, new radius arm bushes & drop link arms & bits and pieces. Still happening, fitted new steering damper (gas filled bilstein unit) still happening. Guy behind...
