    Driver Pack Dementia?

My money is on the air dryer breaking up and clogging things up. Sounds exactly like what has happened mine in the last few weeks. Check your exhaust air filter for all the white powder and change it along with the air dryer. Mine arrived today from p38 spares on ebay

EAS keeps auto-selecting off road height...

so got a sensor this morning and fitted it. About the easiest job you can do on a P38. Unfortunately, hasn't made a whole lot of difference. I thought it had, and it definitely doesn't try to go to full height as often as it did before - it would have tried it every time i slowed below 35mph...

EAS keeps auto-selecting off road height...

It's 2000 so if i'm right they can be swapped but i have to switch wires over. Read that in one of rsw solutions posts. Don't think i.ll bother with that. I.ll go get a sensor in the morning and try it in. Fingers crossed

EAS keeps auto-selecting off road height...

So i cleaned the connectors for the front two height sensors last night but no change. I'm convinced it is the front left height sensor which is at fault as it sits permanently high and causes all the problems. I can select any height and its right all apart from front left bein 25mm or so high...

    Catalogue of disasters.

i'd suggest possibly an abs wheel speed sensor, but someone smarter than me will be along soon! Maybe got knocked out when the brake pipe failed, or when it was replaced. Theya re sensitive wee buggers. Only worked on one from an Audi Quattro i had - haven't been near them on a P38 though!!

EAS keeps auto-selecting off road height...

I've been out and had a look - even stole the wifes toothbrush to clean the contacts but haven't got that far yet (and yes, i'll leave the toothbrush back before she notices) Connected the computer and cycled through the heights. all the numbers on the computer match up quite well in the...

    P38 overheating / mechanics issue

I would stay well clear of any miracle solution (Rad-weld type additives). I haven't used them myself, but from reading all the advice on here, i wouldn't. What i did do instead was do my own head gaskets about 18 months ago. Was slightly different in that my gasket failed and was blowing...

EAS keeps auto-selecting off road height...

Thanks guys. I'm going start with the cleaning options (hopefully tonight). Then I'll take everything from there. I refuse to even google the price of a driver pack, beacuse a box of matches is much cheaper... Can i use electrical cleaner spray on the height sensor connectors? I've...

EAS keeps auto-selecting off road height...

I replaced my rear air pipes recently. Don't think this has anything to do with it, but just history. Had a blowing exhaust which melted the lines. Replaced them and everything all good for a couple of hundred miles. Was away on holiday last week and took my laptop along with my newly...

    P38 problem.

Well said. They aren't the right vehicle if you don't get your hands dirty. Cost you a fortune even if you do! But everyone on here will save you taking it near garages...

    Please a reply is needed

I've arnotts on the rear and started the lifetime warranty debate. From all i've learned there is no way i'd be buying dunlops. Everywhere i look they are basically the same price (gen 2 anyway), and i fall victim to their sales pitch by understanding the technical reasons arnott give for being...

Arnott Gen 2 - guaranteed for life?

So, been talking to p38 spares this afternoon and yes, send in a photo and they'll replace the spring. good news. also just bought an EAS cable off off the ebay... get working at it later this week and sort it out...

Arnott Gen 2 - guaranteed for life?

thanks guys. going to phone the supplier shortly. still baffles me as to where the air is getting out (if it is and i'm not imagining it!) where do the air lines go above the rear left spring? i think i can hear air, but only when the engine is running and then i can't pin point it cause...

Arnott Gen 2 - guaranteed for life?

Anyone actually tried to use the guarantee yet? Mine blew out - i've tried replacing the collet but i can't seem to get a seal. Just been to the local indy and bought a new spring (just the standard one) and it still won't lift. thinking i'll take it back and try get a new spring on warranty...

how long have you got before eas hard fault?

no, i'll not be inflating anything for a day or two. got the spring out this morning, definitely missing the outside collet. still looks like the o rings are intact though. At least i can see one of them. Got new collet coming over from P38spares. Rang around everyone over here and nobody...

how long have you got before eas hard fault?

can they be repaired? i didn't realise they could with being so bloody small and fiddly. i'm gonna get the air spring out tomorrow evening, then i'll sort out getting it repaired. at last some possible light at the end...

how long have you got before eas hard fault?

no, tried rounding over the edges a little with the only tools i had (long nose pliers) but now the car is stranded at my work. got in this morning, but borrowed a work vehicle, so i'll try something tomorrow night. i'm pushing the hose that hard it is kinking, always in the same place too so...

how long have you got before eas hard fault?

tried again tonight, but just can't get the damn thing in...! i can see into the collet and it all looks ok, but just won't push in. anyone ever heard of it happening before? do i need to just bite the bullet and buy a new air spring? or will i just have the same problem it was...

how long have you got before eas hard fault?

Thanks guys. The raised collar is still there, along with the little red rubber-type collar around the pipe. The collet seems to be intact, but it's such a fiddly wee bugger that i cant get it pushed in any further. might try cutting off a few mm later, but don't think it will help me...
