I thought the original Series 1's were just called "The Landrover"... Series 1's and 2's definitely had a badge on the front grille (very similar to the metal badges that are also on the rear of Land Rovers. Series 3's had a hyphenated "Land-Rover" moulded as part of the front plastic grille...
