    Series 3 88 parabolic probs!!

....Don't forget that these are handed - marked on the springs to ensure you get them the correct way around. Think you'll see the difference in quality even before you fit them - :5bcheers2:

    Series 3 88 parabolic probs!!

Up until about 2 years ago Paddocks sold some really nasty cheap springs which when you actually did some digging were actually produced in India, despite suggestions that they were "British".... they had so many complaints that they changed supplier, but never bothered finding out who that was...

    Agree with that!!!!

    Series 3 88 parabolic probs!!

There's definitly something wrong with them... If anything you should need to be adding weight in the back to stop them riding too high when you tighten the shackles. Manual gives a measurement for ratcheting down normal leaf springs using a jack and chain prior to tightening, but as parabolics...

Seats for a series 3 swab

Trakkers are really comfy, quite firm, but very supportive - whilst quite modern I think that they also suit the look of a series! I put them on top of a set of original land rover sliding rails (got off ebay for about £15) and the extra bit of height, along with thin profile of the seat, really...

Seats for a series 3 swab

Exmoor Trim "Extreme Trakkers" are great, bit like the Deluxe originals but even better.... and fit straight in on original fixing plates (See photo) prior to those I actually had old Nissan Micra seats in mine and they were really comfy, but still small enough to leave adequate leg room

    Galvanised chassis

...Got a galved Bulkhead on mine too and have not painted that either...may seem a bit tarty, but I love the detail of the vertical galved front door mount piller and contrast of painted vent flaps against the galvenised finish:)

    Galvanised chassis

Unpainted Galv Chaais looks great (or so I think on mine) only possible problem could be isthat it becomes obvious that you have a new galv chassis and it could make your landy more attractive to thieves as a result???? If you are going to paint it then don't forget to apply mordant solution...

    Lifting?

about sums it up Redhand.... but in fairness i did only say "Slightly":)
  10. OZAWOZA

    Lifting?

Personally I think that the combination of parabolics and 7.50 tyres gives the perfect amount of lift, improving proportions of the body length/height, giving a slightly more aggressive appearance. whilst reasonable good road handling.... too much lift and things start looking a bit too modded...

What to take on a long trip?

    Parabolic springs

I got Procomp ES3000 (+2") and they work brilliantly with the GB Springs that I have... think those are probably a good mid range damper (about £30 each including the VAT)

    Parabolic springs

Completely agree with both sides of this argument.... good well greased/oiled standard springs are great, but if not and you are going to replace them then a good set of parabolics are easier to maintain and in my own humble opinion have better ride quality for both on and off road. Having said...

    Fairey Winch UJ

Thanks for your help guys...found a really helpful guy in Chard's of BRistol who has informed me that the joint is actually a "Precision Bearing" (not sure exactly what the difference between that and a UJ is, but there you go)... has ordered a blank and will bore out the exact internal shaft...

Thanks Guys - certainly a few options there for me to follow up (I've got lots of feelers out at the moment and still hoping someone will come up with an original, but looking very unlikely at the moment)

Really appreciate that MrChurchill as drawn a complete blank on this so far - apart from Dr Evil's suggestion, which will likely be expensive for a one off, but if that's what it takes then that's what it will have to be

Thanks Dr Evil.... got a company in Bristol that could possibly do it, but was hoping for something original and without a long wait, but may have to go down that route as a last resort:)
