    750/16 235/85/r16?

As much as I hate to say it... try Fleabay - quite regularly get full sets of decent tyres and wheels on there for around £50 (got my last set of nearly new Michelin XZL 7.50xR16 including very tidy rims for £40 recently

    Standard Noise level

Trouble with measuring noise is that decibels are based on a logarithmic scale so every increase of 3dB is actually equal to a doubling in actual volume so 68dB (opening packet of biscuits) is actually 64 times quieter than 86dB (riding in a Series Land Rover) and 89db would be twice as loud as...

    Shock absorbers for s3

Procomp ES300 (+2") would be a reasonable starting point I would think - Paddocks sell them and quite reasonable too

How many people do you count in this Series?

    Sealing threads

    Thanks Again :)

    Sealing threads

Thanks Jamesmartin... I have RTV sealant anyway, so just a smear on the threads I guess (is it ok with hot engine temperature?)

    Sealing threads

Those of you who are more experienced than I in all things automotive....Please don't laugh at what I am about to ask.... I am replacing a few bits and pieces on the engine (only simple things like water temp sender, adaptor, etc - my question is when I screw the new bits in, do I need to seal...

    Speedometer Strangeness!

Sounds like you have fitted a speedo from a SWB (88") landy.. the difference in wheel circumference between the standard tyres would account for this - I base this on the fact that I have LWB (larger tyres) fitted on my SWB landy and as a result she reads about the same under what I am actually...

    ..... Sorry I meant to say 40Kg (Not 4Kg) - Doh!!!!!
  11. OZAWOZA

    galvanizing

...I know most places have a minimum weight charge (you can get less done, but have to pay for the minimum weight) _ think it's generally about 4Kg...not sure how much you are getting done, but if less than the minimum weight, it may be worth seeing if anybody else has any bits need doing and...

    engine colour anorak advice

I always thought the duck egg blue used on military engines was also used on the 3 bearing 2.25 civilian engine, with the later 5 bearing engines changing to red - Mines a 1975 S3 and it has an original engine that is duck egg blue

    manifold order.

...I found life much easier using the all in one type gasket rather than separate metal gaskets (links below for both petrol and diesel type) ETC7750 | Exhaust Manifold Gasket - Diesel 274171 | Exhaust manifold gasket - 4cyl Petrol

    manifold order.

Put them together first (but only finger tight) bolt them to head and then tighten the two manifolds together - only way to get a gas tight seal to the head in my experience

    Left or right? Which one?

Strange regarding RM not being handed, because I spent a long time researching different spring manufacturers a couple of years ago when I replaced mine and I had a definite confirmation back from RM to stating that the springs were designed to accommodate the uneven weight distribution of a...

    Left or right? Which one?

Parabolic springs should definitely be handed...although many of the cheaper ones are not. (decent ones like GB Springs, Rocky Mountain and Haystee are marked up when new, but difficult to tell once the paint has gone) If you have both of them off together then stand them upside down on a flat...

    Coil sprung series Chassis

Agreed... I use Procomp ES3000 extended dampers with mine and love the combination.... others don't - down to your personal choice and what you use the landy for really?

    thoughts on procomp es3000?

I got the extended ones from Paddocks and I find them a perfect combination with my GB Parabolics - had them on about 2 years now and very good road manners , but with plenty of give for a bit of gentle RTV trialling as well
