Series 3 on Range Rover axles help!

Remove and replace with the correct Series 3 parts. Imagine if you were in an accident and someone got hurt and the police were looking at the safety critical components of the vehicle. Bits of rebar and badly homemade spring mounts may land you in court.

Rear Axle refurb - welding issue

Fitting a Salisbury rear axle to a short wheel base Series Landrover requires fairly major modifications to the spring mounts and bump stops areas. It is not a straightforward swap. By far the easiest solution is to swap the axle case with a better one.

    Series 2a Half Shafts

Normal for a late Series 3. Does the chassis number stamped in the O/S front dumbiron match the V5c?

    Series 2a Half Shafts

That is a Series 3 chassis.

    series 3 to defender

The diff only has one end where the pinion oil seal is. Are you still maybe getting the terminology wrong? The diff is the big heavy lump bolted into the middle ish of the axle case. From your description it's the axle case oil seals you are referring to. They sit at either end of the axle case...

I think you are getting the terminology mixed up. Surely it's the axle case oil seals you want? Widely available

He does a bolt on version too. Rods and buffers readily available. Surely better than messing up a nice bulkhead with bodgery?

No engine number 1969 series 2a?

Who knows but these are some pics of where my number is. First pic shows where it normally is and other pic shows where it actually is.

    Green Landover

Cool, yes, but only affordable for the very rich. These conversions are close to £50000. I'd be very keen to go electric if the cost of a kit was the same money as a full engine rebuild (approx £4000).

No engine number 1969 series 2a?

Very late 5mb 2.25 service exchange engines did not have the number in the usual place. Try looking just to the left of the distributor. Mine is stamped there. Number usually starts with S.

    Rebuild upgrades and advice

Most 'upgrades' devalue classic vehicles. Standard swb 10" brakes, if well set up and maintained, are actually quite good. Stainless and aluminium are not the best of friends. There is some chemistry involved re galvanitic corrosion! They can be used if there is a physical barrier between the...

Series 3 Replacing steering relay lower seal in-situ

Quite safe to remove lower seal retainer and even the top one too. The shaft is held in place by the 'wedge effect' of the upper and lower split bushes. It will only fly apart if you drive the shaft out of the relay body.

Any ideas? Snapped Heater Hose adaptor...SOLVED

Thin sharp chisel and hit it a few times to get the remains moving. If that fails it'll be a combination of drill/chiselling the remains out. At least its a relatively soft metal. Of course access is limited, maybe remove rocker cover to make more room? I don't see a copper sealing washer. Has a...
