I think you need to check the free play of the push rod to the master cylinder. There needs to be a 1.5mm (i think) gap which translates to about a 5mm free play on the pedal. This allows excess fluid to return to the master cylinder, but if the gap isnt there then the system pressurizes itself...

I've got the OEM mounts from Glencoyne, and they made a massive difference, particularly at idle. Defiantly £20 well spent. I can now use the wing mirrors which were useless before.

The camshaft lobe presses on the pump mechanism just as the hand lever does. If the cam lobe happens to be pressing the pump down when the engine stops, then pressing the lever will do nothing. Well, it is a series, so 'all good' is probably a bit of an exaggeration ;) But its back on the road, I'm just down to the usual niggle list of a few oil drips, electrical gremlins and oddments. Mind you its the MOT next month, so probably shouldn't speak to soon.

I managed to fit the new halfshaft of saturday (thanks Andy!) and put the propshaft back on. Went for a test drive and all is well, no puddles of EP90 underneath or anything :D

I've had some time over the bank holiday weekend, and managed to fit the new brake master cylinder, re-plumbed the reservoir and reverse bled the brakes and clutch. I've just taken it out for a test run and clutch and brakes are finally rock solid again. Hoo chuffing ray. I'll do a final check...

I'll be there if I can get to borrow the Mrs car again. I've got the pedal box out and the leaking fluid has stripped a lot of the paintwork off the footwell and bulkhead so I've got a lot of cleaning up and repainting to do before I can start putting stuff back together.

Google 'short splice' and there are loads of examples. Its finding out that its called a short splice that took me ages, but its a doddle once you've done one.
