    Bio diesel plant

Really?? I think you've been inhaling the methanol a bit too much. If sealed vented units were as dangerous as you think they are then no way would the vast majority of homebrew biodieselers be using them. Maybe you want to take up your views with Graham Lamming and he can explain the...

    Hawkeye

Just got a Hawkeye with version 5 of the software. Other than a slight brown trousers moment when I thought I'd killed the landy by selecting to program market features it's fantastic. It's diagnosed my three amigos straight away to intermittent sensor outputs of RH rear LH front, and the RH...

    Bio diesel plant

Bad form mate, you shouldn't be recommending anything with a loose lid. Ever since the plans for the GL reactors have been available there's been no need for a reactor with any type of lid. They're just too dangerous - methanol vapours are seriously unhealthy. Every post GL reactor has a vent...

    biodiesel

Few chippys give away oil because its the most obvious place people think of for used oil. Pretty much every single small hotel and B&B has waste oil and for many of them its a problem. Big collectors aren't interested in collecting 30 litres a month from a small B&B, they charge them or tie...

    Bio diesel plant

Johnny Crash - what are you on about?? Your cost saving method costs 85p a litre, mine costs max 25p/litre, that's with waste vegetable oil and all of the chemicals, leccy, winteriser added in - in summer its closer to 15p/litre. Takes me a few hours to make 100litres, no biggie. Every 100...

    Biodiesel-Have you?Do you?Any problems with Bio?

The best guides are on vegetable oil diesel's forum. I might post a topic when I get chance tho..

    Bio diesel plant

Thank heavens for IanFi's comments. Jesus Discomania I'm surprised you're not blind or mad yet!! When you get the hang of it home brew biodiesel is incredibly simple and easy, but it takes some time and caution to get to that point. You can build your own reactor or find someone to build one...

    biodiesel

Sorry - been off for a while, so just catching up with commenting on a few biodiesel threads. I've run my TD5 on biodiesel for 30,000+ miles, absolutely no problems at all. The only problems are from all the other TD5 issues - just got the three amigos a few days ago and I'm waiting for the...

    Running a disco 2 td5 on biodiesel

I've been producing my own biodiesel for a bit now and clocked up over 30,000 miles in my TD5 on it. If anything it's better for the engine than pump diesel, not to mention the environment and the pocket. At times I've run out of bio and had to go back to pump diesel and the engine sounds...

    Biodiesel-Have you?Do you?Any problems with Bio?

I wouldn't worry too much about the soap test hifly. I did that one several times when I was starting out producing my own bio and kept getting disappointed by the results and worried about using it. The most important test is the 27/3 test to see how much unreacted oil is left in the bio...

How many are using veg oil

Wow - £1200+, that's almost as much as it cost me for my biodiesel setup. 30,000 + miles so far on bio, no problems from it at all, just the usual landy problems. When the head gasket was done the mechanic commented on how smooth the engine ran and that the top end was still in good nick. Aside...

    Biodiesel-Have you?Do you?Any problems with Bio?

I've been using bio in my V plate TD5 for about 18 months now. I started off cautiously using 50/50 mixes etc, then gradually built up - more about gettting the courage rather than easing the engine into it. So far its done over 25,000 miles with no real bio problems. After 2,000 miles the fuel...

    TD5 Coolant problem

Well it is a HG failure - it's in the garage in bits at the moment - hopefully Monday should see it repaired and back to health, just in time for the next problem.......

    blocked radiator??

Well, just an update. Turns out its the HG. The garage did a block test and there's combustion gases in the coolant, so hopefully a new HG shouls solve the problem

    blocked radiator??

cheers - I've got rave and followed bleeding instructions. I'll check tomorrow with a run about. The pumps working ok, the flow of coolant to the expansion vessel is steady.

    blocked radiator??

    Cheers - I'll have a look later

    blocked radiator??

I'll have a check of the pump then. I'm stumped as to why a cold rad is a symptom of a failed HG on a TD5 - I can't see the logic in it because I would have thought the coolant would still flow through the rad even if the HG is gone, but apparently its a symptom of HG failure.
  19. T

    blocked radiator??

The top hose is hot and the bottom hose is cold on mine :-(
  20. T

    blocked radiator??

So the coolant would flow in through the top pipe and out through the bottom pipe, it just wouldn't go through the fins?? So the rad would be cold, but the pipes would be hot?
