drain oil, wash,wash,wash and then weld. Not worth pulling the axel out for.

I have NEVER done such a stupid thing as forgetting to put the oil in the engine. Mind you, I must admit that on more than one occasion I have forgotten to put the bung back in. Pool of oil all over floor ! :D

The hot parts of the engine are encompassed in a water jacket, ie water cooled engine.

did you set the phasing of the u/js ?, ie did were the two u/js fitted in the same position, relative to each other, on either ends of the shaft? If not set this couls break them. Also, one joint would have gone first, then dropped the shaft and thus broke the other joint.

Regarding towing points, do a search here on rear crossmember replacement. Have a look at some of the replacement pohots, take note of the rear chassis repairs also. This is where all the towing pressure is, and is also the most common rusting area of older chassis. Then take a chiping hammer to...

I think you need to loosen the top u/j, this then allows the whole shaft to be moved up into the top u/j the required 1" to allow the shaft pull out of the bottom u/j, if you get my drift !

Sounds like either a bad connection/starter or battery. First check battery connections, check to see if loose/hot or dirty. Turn on lights , are they bright? After that try charging the battery hate to say it but u dont sound like someone that needs a landrover !

dont buy an engine, you are better off buying a complete donor car, that way you get most of what you need, including gearbox, transferbox, rad, intercooler etc. If you do a search you will find details of a replacment engine mounting that allows you to bolt in a 300tdi into a td chassis. Start...

30 defects on the yellow Land Rover 110 Station Wagon after the crash, including a failing hand brake, worn rear brake drums and shoes, loose steering wheel and mismatched calipers. Apart from the "loose steering wheel" the rest looks like "well its a land rover" ! Presumably the "30 defects"...

Somethin like this ? its a 90 but shouldnt be that different. chain shackled arround bulkhead to chassis brackets in engin bay, scaffold pole under rear tub, routed trough wheel arch, lifting strap from hoist to pole. Theres not that much weight in the body.
