    235x70x16 Tyres on a Classic

    Refers to the diameter. 235/70 is 1cm taller than std, 215/75 is 5cm ish shorter. (80% of 205cm =164, 70% of 235=164.5 75% of 215=161.25 etc)

    P38 DSE - Alternator error

I think the op said the new engine and fip ran fine for 5k before this problem. So shouldn't be fuel quantity. But agree the symptom matches.

Range Rove Classic fuel filler flap wont open

Sound like wire to flap or the actuator itself got fried. Would try to test actuator with current applied direct to see which one. or look around wheel arch area for a melted looking wire. ;-)

    235x70x16 Tyres on a Classic

I have 235x70x16 on mine and have no probs apart from needing to adjust lock stop. Might get round to it one day. They are quite knobbly and noisy so i'm expecting to replace with tarmac tyres as they wear out. I got it with them already on, so don't know how different standard size is.

Exhaust manifold to Egr valve pipe

I'd bin it and block the EGR off anyway. but if you want to keep it, yeah, there's either something breaking it, or whoever fitted it didn't do it right. Wouldn't think its a faulty part.

    Rad popped, advice needed

yeah! remove the EGR. I found removing it improved responsiveness off the line.

    P38 DSE - Alternator error

i'm just guessing, (not based on real actual facts but what i've seen on mine) but i think the rev counter is significant. Guess 1: the throttle electronic control is bust or connection probs. I know when i've got connector on mine wet rev counter didn't work. Guess 2: ecu or conection fault...

    Classic steering problem please help!

when you say locked up, do you mean it wouldn.t steer or steering became heavy, or the wheel wouldn't rotate? Does it turn to left ok, or is that heavy too? Fluid would have to be brake fluid or power steering fluid. You should check the reservoir bottles in the engine bay. Both on drivers side...

Looked at a P38 today - here's the problems, are they serious and whats the fix?

seems a bit pricey to me - going on ebay for simillar age P38 diesel over last month or so, 1500 - 2000 seem to be about the going price for those with some niggles. range rover, rangerover 1997,1996,1998 dhse,dt,dse, diesel auto | eBay UK

    vibrating engine

I'd say it could well do - compression test on each cylinder would be next step. If the gasket is gone between two cylinders, then they'll both be down on pressure.

Low battery - please start engine...

well, if no one else on here has experience of this to help you which is possible since its so new,at least it must be under warranty and you can keep taking it back until they fix it :) what has the dealer said so far?

Low battery - please start engine...

sounds like either your battery is legitimately low, or you could use the patch referenced here: DISCO3.CO.UK - View topic - Low Battery Warning

    No 4 injector question

It'll run like **** with a standard injector there - iinjector 4 tells the ECU about the timing of fuel delivery I think. its expensive to buy - £160 new I think - but if you can get that 2nd hand one, the job isn't so hard. shouldn't take more than a couple of hours first time.
