    No Revs in drive

I don't know what the mechanism is, but on my car, if the engine isn't creating enough power at idle I get this too. Have seen it when I've left MAP pipe off, forgot to connect injector 4 lead or got the quantity adjustment wrong when fannying about with the FIP. So... I'd be taking a look at...

P38, 2.5 diesel, EGR removal?? is it possible??

I removed my EGR pipe and blanked it at both ends a couple of thousand miles ago. Made it a little more responsive off the line. Have had no problems. I don't believe the custom part will make much improvement over just blanking it though

EAS - Harsh Ride - Calibration?

Just a thought. knackered dampers would give a bad ride over broken road. Can't remember if that was already covered earlier in this thread?

oh man they killed!!!! help please...

The timing can be some way off I'm sure and it'll still run. However - could be something simpler - they could have neglected to refit the MAP tube, or injector 4 etc. Either way, I think its theirs to fix.

Take it to kwik fit. I did just the rear section of my Classic recently, and even that took a couple of miserable filthy hours.

injector pump recon?? was it worth it??

If they've sent the FIP away to a specialist for seals and calibration, and there are worn parts preventing calibration, then you'd expect the specialist to either quote for replacement of worn parts OR not charge the calibration fee. Perhaps they mean they've calibrated, but they've not...

injector pump recon?? was it worth it??

From memory, Fastline in Northampton offered me £130 odd for service & calibration, which I guess is just replacing seals & calibrating etc. didn't include removal and refitting of FIP. perhaps £390 including removal and refit & timing would be about right for a service.

I saw a thread somewhere that suggested tacking a couple of bars diagonally across the tailgate opening before removing the x-member, to keep it all square.

Sign Of The Decline of this Country?

yep, that's all fair comment, and I don't disagree. but I'd be happy to have the inconvenience of incurring occasional scrutiny of zealous policemen if it changes the minds of a few of the '45 everywhere' brigade. its not only about the risk of injury & death - excessive speed I think has a...

On the other hand, how hard is it to do 30 instead of about 35? Unless otherwise signed streetlights mean 30mph To paraphrase: hit them at about 35 and there's an 80% chance they'll die. Hit them at 30 and there's an 80% chance they'll live.

    P38 2.5 DSE FIP Problem?

A good competent garage should be able to do it. Engine is shared with a good few cars and the procedure is pretty standard. Just a shame about the expense!
