    Intermittent A/C

When it's running, the A/C is as good as can be expected for a P38. The problem I've experienced for some time is that it seems to stop working about 1 mile after I starts diving, then comes back on after 2 - 3 minutes, then it keeps working. On long runs it may stop occasionally but, again...

    'Foam' filter stuff!

I got bored with keep replacing the foam and cleaning the bits out when changing the pollen filters, so got hold of ultra fine stainless steel mesh. Cut to shape with scissors, bends over all the clip points and is held nicely by the frame. Fits like a dream and looks great.

    P38 Sidesteps advice

If yours uses L brackets made of mild steel then these will last about 12 months before they rot through and the front (usually) drops down when you hit a bump in the road and digs in, ripping the rear one off and redesigning the step in the process. I had some made in stainless using the old...

Strange issue with HEVAC temperature control

GENTLY and slowly insert an opened up paper clip through the sensor grill in the dash. If the fan is working your hear and feel it. If you have a can of compressed air, shoot that into the grill. The fan isn’t totally enclosed and any crap should be blown out.

    Rave

The RAVE I downloaded from the 'other' forum (LHD) is very much different from the RHD W/S Manual. Lots of photos and much more user helpful, if you are across the Atlantic and own a LHD vehicle.

Manual I have. RAVE I haven't. Thought I'd get this reply in today while the atmosphere is still conducive. :)

Can someone please point me in the direction to download RAVE (RHD version) for a 97 P38 4.6 HSE, hopefully without the verbal and sarcasm one gets on other forums. Thanks........in anticipation.

Got a quote from the Garage (EAS)

If you have the old compressor, I'd really recommend getting a service kit off eBay and repairing it. I have a spare compressor and spare valve block from when RR replaced mine. I've repaired both and so have a spare of each. They don't last forever, even if everything is working well. It's an...

    Fuel & Emissions System

Thanks for the reply. Now I know what it is, but no idea what it really does. I had a fire in the engine bay recently and suspected a wiring fault, but wasn't sure if it was aggravated by fuel vapour. The black vent pipe got well cooked where it goes past the ABS booster and needs replacing...

    Fuel & Emissions System

Hi. I have a 1997 P38 4.6 and was wondering if anyone can tell me the expected service life of the Evap Loss Control System charcoal canister. It's that black box on the LHS with two pipes connected to the top. Thanks.

    ABS Booster connector

I am replacing the wiring loom and connector which plugs in behind the ABS booster, but can anyone tell me what it actually connects to? I thought it was the ECU, but I see from the workshop manual that this is on the other side of the vehicle. Thanks PACLX

    Wiring Harness Fire

I've just had a small fire in the engine bay of my '97 Range Rover 4.6 HSE, caused by a short. The wiring loom which connects to the back of the ABS booster and goes through the fire wall into the cab needs to be replaced/repaired. I can't find the correct harness reference in the spares manual...
