The saga of the brakes continues... I stripped down my leaking hub today which turned out to be leaking far worse than I thought. I changed the hub seal and replaced all the gaskets. I've got new shoes and drums on both sides, all adjusted and the pedal still goes to the floor. I tried to...

The new brakes and some other bits arrived today. The oil seal has started to go on one of the hubs, so I've got a new seal, land and all the washers and gaskets for this too. I'm not sure if I'm going to get time to do it this weekend, hopefully it'll be back on the road ready for the next pub...

I've heard lots of stories about getting things the wrong way round. I realise the shoes are handed and there are lots of different holes to keep you guessing where the return springs go. There was a point where everything was fine and it just seems to have got worse over time so I'm confident...

Cheers. I'm pretty sure the adjustment is ok - I've done it several times in the past successfully, but I've never tried to lock the shoes solid. I'll try this at the weekend and also get the dust seals off and have a better look for weeping cylinders.

It looks ok. I clamped the hose as near to the back axle as I could and it made no difference - the pedal was still solid. Next thing to try is clamping in the slaves with g-clamps and trying again.

The problem is defiantly in the back somewhere. If I clamp the flexi hose to the back axle then the pedal is rock hard, so something is going back there. The garage have had it on the power bleeder so I don't think there is any air in there. There is no sign of weeping from the slaves. Ho hum...

My brakes are getting really bad - I can very nearly get the pedal to the floor now - so I wont be coming tomorrow :mad:
