The part number is 589448. Paddocks, craddocks, lrseries, ebay, they're fairly common. You can get just the lens, or the whole assembly with lens, back plate, bulb and wires already connected. Providing it fits, then just changing the lens is 2 min job with 2 screws. I can check the distance...

My '63 IIa has combined rear lights and number plate lights. Basically there is a small clear window in the red lens. When the lights are on the window lights up the number plate.

Yes, the 109 does have a super tanker sized turning circle, and visibility out the back ist great even in the station wagon which is practically all glass so it makes supermarket car parks somewhat a challenge. However if you need to move stuff round they are cavernous inside. You'd be surprised...

+1 I bike to the station in the summer but use my IIa through the winter instead. Its a bit nippy in the ice and snow but a hat and gloves are cheap.

I was going to bung an airbed in the back of the 109, but have no probs with a b&b either. Would it make more sense to travel Friday? Its going to be a long slow trip for some of us.
