    Brake problem

How important is the flat circular seal between servo and master cylinder ? whats it for ? My old master is Girling, and has one, albeit knackered, the new master wasnt ordered from Britpart but turns out to be from them, no seal. I have S3 with dual circuit master, the long one.

    Running over-filled 200tdi Engine Oil?

I've a little bit too much in mine, doesnt cause a problem. Once upon a time a mate changed the oil in his car, poured in the whole gallon bottle, but forgot to drain the old out. That really was too much. It ran on, and put out so much smoke. Amazed it ran at all, it was a petrol engine.

    Running over-filled 200tdi Engine Oil?

depends how much is too much the worst - you cant stop it, oil will get into the combustion chambers and the engine will run on until its burned the excess. I bet an older diesel can run on its own oil In theory a pressure build up can blow a seal, most likely the rear crank seal as thats a pain...

    Oil moan

There are plenty of cars on the island, cant be that hard to find oil. IF you have a fat wallet try a chandlers. If not, try a farm supplier. Modern tractord are expensive machines, decent oil will be availble in bulk

    Parabolic springs

If you have the space, enthusiasm, and perhaps an old bath, take the rusted std springs off and soak them in sump oil for at least a week. This should penetrate enough to get them apart. The leaves may become free, if not then seperate them with hammer and cold chisel, clean up, slap full of...

    Locating an old series 2A

    Please identify my brakes

"interesting". The pistons on the rear drums have metric threads. I found out by failing to fit the replacements I'd bought. Could they be discovery, defender etc ? Once identified, perhaps there will be a choice of bore sizes like the series has between SWB and LWB Pictures soon
