FL2 Mileage: how high is too high?

I think the FL2s have another few years depreciating to do. I personally wouldnt want a massive mileage one as it will be very hard to sell on in a few years time. Whatever the faults will be as they wear out, it wont be cheap to fix. Nice cars though, will get through a lot, the automatic...

    Just learning about them

I hear that the 2.5 is better as its more powerful. But as ever, buy on condition not spec unless theres something you really want. To illustrate: In my youth wot I am still mis-spending, I once wanted as Alfa. Back then it was the 33 that was the affordable car. I looked at and drove a few, the...

    How to spot a ringer?

Back to MGBs - a heritage body shell is expensive, so is painting it, cars with one tend to be sold as such as theres 30 years less rust, so they often fetch a premium. Doesnt mean that the car is any good though. Buy on condition.

    Should I or shouldn't I please help

tax free etc - youll probably get away with it, but should it ever be called for inspection could you be billed the unpaid tax?

    Should I or shouldn't I please help

Ask yourself why its for sale ? Could it be that its been battered off road, has gearbox faults, its all expensive hassle to fix ? Is it what the vendor claims it to be ? There are plenty of landies for sale, shop around, see a few, get used to them etc. Of course, if the price is right...

    Poor Show, Defender Owners!

anyway, recoveries, once upon a time I saw a 7.5 ton delivery lorry being driven at silly speed on a little lane, then straigt across the snow with grass sticking out of it, then nowhere, sunk in the mud. The fat braindead twit "driving" expected us working nearby to pull him out, and refused to...

    Poor Show, Defender Owners!

Mildly amusing when Im driving a normal car, and somone in a big 4x4 comes barrelling round a country lane, then expects me to reverse (all the way to where ?) so s/he doesnt get car dirty. If s'he gets moody I turn of the engine and listen to radio. I can't stand all this arrogence, its not me...

    Britpart stupidity

I had my first experience of Britpart quality the other day, ordered what thought was a decent part, paid enough for a decent part, turned up in a B- box. Brake master cylinder - porous casting - bubbles in it - should have gone straight back into the melting pot. Needless to say Ive bought a...

    Stainless steel exhausts.

some stainless exhausts are better than others. I drove a neighbours MGB a while ago, stainless boxes, the ringing in my ears was horrible. Get people to comment on the make they have.

Been offered a land Rover 90

You cant go far wrong. If the tyres hold are and have tread they are worth a bit, easily sellable parts are worth a bit, a scrap man will pay for the left overs. Take a good look at it. If you can transport it and store it somewhere it sounds like a winner. Of course, if its utter junk dont bother.

    UK government scrappage scheme

As I understand it the whole vehicle is supposed to be scrapped. The chassis and engine are identifiable so cant be used on road. Wouldnt it be naughty if someone welded in a repair section with a different chassis number. Scrappage was another one of Gay Gordons poorly thought through schemes...

Does anyone refurbish genuine Girling brake masters

some pattern parts are better than others. With prices so variable its hard to know what one is getting. From now on I wont be buying anything without a recogniseable name on it. Which seal kit should I go for ? It wont be ****part.

Does anyone refurbish genuine Girling brake masters

Im deeply unhappy about the quality of the brake master cylinder I bought from a well known supplier, it turned out to be Britpart - doesnt fit properly, voids in the casting. It will be returned. So Ive got the original Girling master, can it be refurbished ? I hear that simply replacing seals...
