    Gems ecu

They run off the switch by the condenser. If you lie underneath the front LH side, you can see the switch from underneath. If the switch is faulty, they don't get the 'grant' signal to the fans and it can prevent the compressor running too. You can short out the plug into the switch with a...

    p38 with problems becm?

Are you getting any messages on the dashboard display? It could be the becm is in immobilised mode. That can prevent the 'box of tricks' from communicating. If so, it needs the eka putting in before it can communicate, but if the drivers doorlock microswitch is faulty, this can prevent...

    WANTED: 16" Wheels & Tyres - Swap/PX for 18's ?

I've got a very nice set of 16" P38 alloys sitting in my lock up. They were on my Rangie until I changed to RR sport alloys, and can vouch for the fact they gave no vibration. The 4 alloys have very good tyres, all Pirelli Scorpions I think with plenty of tread, plus there is a steel spare...

    Ignition

This has possibly been checked, but I have not seen it mentioned. If the ignition is too far advanced, it will not start when hot. Just a thought as I saw the ignition had been changed to lumenition. Has it been checked with a strobe?

A week of welding and still not finished!

Congratulations, I bet it feels good now it's done. :D:D I had to do all that to a RR Classic some years ago, front inner wings, sills, rear wheel arches inside and out, boot floor and surrounds. It doesn't sound much if you say it quick, does it? I took a week off work to do it, and...

which 4x4 / big car to buy?

Hi, I'm wondering why you went off the Range Rover idea? May be that your first thought was the best. I know I love my Rangies, you can't get a better 'suitable for everything' car IMHO. Certainly great for space, shopping, big boot etc. I have run rangies on LPG for years with...

    The Price Of Gas

Pubs go through loads of CO2 bottles. If you've got a friendly landlord, borrow a full one off him and give it back when done. I think I got the bottle adapter from machine mart (you will need one if you go to the larger size bottles - about £15 if I remember right)

    My 90 has gone!

The first snorkle was made out of plastic and developed a leak, I found out about it when in deep water and the engine got water in necessitating an engine rebuild. - See my avatar, I'll try and find the photos of the occasion, but they will need to be scanned. I was determined that wasn't...

    My 90 has gone!

I've sold my 90 and got a discovery. I've had the 90 for 16 years, and missing her already.:5bangelsad2: She was a scruffy farmers vehicle when I got her. Nearly every year various modifications were made. All done on a shoestring budget. Discovery 200tdi turbo diesel engine, transfer...

Is there any truth in LPG mpg claims ?

I have had a number of P38s over the years, 2.5 DSE was first, and although it has it's fans, it was not for me. Since then I have had 4.0 and 4.6 V8's all with LPG. It makes a lot of sense to me and have never had an issue with it (touch wood :) ). Both 4.0 and 4.6 give about the same mpg...

    P38 turbo or supercharger?

Exactly, for example, a turbo engine has a different cam giving altered valve timing from a normally aspirated engine. The exhaust valve opens earlier at the end of the power stroke to recover waste heat/exhaust gas pressure to drive the turbo, thus causing a loss of driving power, but it...

Is it me, or are the later RR's like the p38

As much as I would love an L322, I have spent years getting my head round the P38 issues. Now I am so comfortable with them, that I would approach the steep learning curve required with the L322 with trepidation. Still doesn't stop me wanting one though.

    Aircon

If you remove the radiator grille (6 screws) and then the top panel (4 bolts) you can see the top of the condenser. Look at the top left hand corner (facing towards the rear of the car) and you may even be able to see the deterioration of the condenser in that area. If it looks rough and / or...
