Took the car back to the Specialist today and they (in consultation with land Rover technical support) have diagnosed that the SRS ECU is f:censored:d! They have tested all the connections but every time they try and reset the faults they just re-appear. They asked if it had been in a collision...

Had a new battery about 6 or 7 months ago. How does the centre console come apart so I can at least have a look at the ecu itself?

Flippin 'eck, I knew it was gonna have a multi plug going to it, but didn't realise it would be quite that big! I don't think I'll bother with the DIY, I think just I'll pay someone to have a look at it. By the way, it's a 2003 L322 TD6.

Just had the thing plugged in (nice LR Specialist in Maidenhead did it FOC), and came up with loads of errors. According to the guy, the first two probably relate to the actual problem 'SUPPLY VOLTAGE' & 'INTERNAL ERROR', the rest are all faults on the individual items in the SRS system, and...

Live in Berkshire, car on a drive <8k miles a year. me & the missus £230 p.a BTW, I'm insured with Admiral, was with them on my last car and they were there or thereabouts when I re-insured so didn't bother to switch

bottom end of the engine (sump, crank & block), no head or inlet/exhaust bits

Gearboxes are another weak point on the early diesel L322's, would be worth doing a search for TD6 gearbox probs. I'm sure you'll get many other opinions in the not too distant future:eek:

I believe these suffer from problems with the motor that drives the steering column in/out. there's probably quite a few posts that would confirm this if you do a search. I know mine has had the steering column replaced (before I bought it), and the symptoms on the LR receipt for the work sound...

i had the Philips extra bright bulbs in my last car (Ford Galaxy) made a hell of a difference, think I paid about £24 for a pair of H4's

what model? P38, L322 or Classic? If it's an L322 then there must be something wrong, 'cos I think the xenons on the L322 are the best dipped beams I've ever sat behind.

As someone's already pointed out, is it really worth all the hassle for the sake of £25? What happens if you refuse to pay and they take you to court to recover the fine? If you lost, not only would you be saddled with the original fine, you'd end up paying court costs etc and you could also...
