    200tdi - suddenly lacks power

Hey Guys, Update for you. Since the pump and filter were both ready to drop in and I had some time yesterday, I decided to give it a go. Here is how it went down: I wanted to see if it was running ok first, so I went for a quick drive. Started up fine and seemed to have torque. Drove it up the...

    200tdi - suddenly lacks power

Ok interesting... Any recommendations on how to chase the air leak?

    200tdi - suddenly lacks power

Would that not cause difficulty starting? At the moment it starts right up, you would only realize there is an issue when you try and move and put it under load. Also if you hold it in neutral and apply some revs, if you hold it there for a few seconds it will eventually struggle to maintain...

    200tdi - suddenly lacks power

Hey guys - an update. Went to get in it this morning to drive to work, and the problem has recurred. So far this doesn't happen during a drive, it will be like it when I start up and go to pull away. Hopefully it stays in this condition until I have some time to investigate. I do have a new...

    200tdi - suddenly lacks power

Alright - I am back fellas, with a complete non-update. I ordered a lift pump and a filter. But then decided to cancel the lift pump and just go with the filter and a quick peek in the tank before getting a pump. However, they canceled the filter order, and still sent me a pump. But this pump...

    200tdi - suddenly lacks power

Alright fellas - update. I gave it a go this morning just for ****s and lo and behold she is running as if nothing ever happened. So by my logic this pretty much rules out a turbo issue or air getting into the system since those wouldn't revert back to a good state. It could kinda still be bad...

    200tdi - suddenly lacks power

I just ordered a new filter - really hoping that's the issue.

Is there a way of testing if the lift pump/turbo side of things.

    200tdi - suddenly lacks power

Hey Guys, This is a really confusing one. I have been driving around fine, no problems at all. Then I topped off this morning and maybe put another 10 miles on since then. Now out of nowhere, she starts up just fine and idles ok but then under load it just has no power. Can barely even move...

1990 200TDI - Freezing cold here in the US!

All good suggestions! I saw a lower hose heater that looked pretty easy to install, I may get one of those and some seat heaters! I have a radiator muff on it's way!

1990 200TDI - Freezing cold here in the US!

Great - I will check the thermostat. My Haynes manual isn't a great help, whereabouts is the thermostat housing on the 200TDI?

1990 200TDI - Freezing cold here in the US!

Good to know! I just wanted to make sure nothing was broken. I will get used to the ice in the drivers footwell for a while!

1990 200TDI - Freezing cold here in the US!

So I imported a 1990 Defender 90 with a 200TDI into the states - all original as far as I can tell.... Anyway I don't have a heck of a lot of experience with these vehicles, so at this point I just need some pointers. It's been extremely cold here in the US, around -10C on some mornings...

    Leaking Diesel on Cylinder Head

Hey guys, I wanted to reach out but I didn't want to jinx anything. It turned out those spill pipes were very loose on the first and last cylinder. I snugged them up a bit and it hasn't leaked at all since. Thanks for all your help!

    Leaking Diesel on Cylinder Head

By spill rail do you mean the fuel returns (black hoses)? I just talked to the car dealer that sold us the landy and they said that it's more than likely those hoses and just to replace them. It sounds like it's better to do that than to try and find the whole assembly somewhere.

    Leaking Diesel on Cylinder Head

I was going to try that but it was so soaked when I got home last night I wanted to wait until I could clean it off and then watch it at idle. It was steaming pretty good, but I think that was because the diesel was running down the side of the block.

    Leaking Diesel on Cylinder Head

Hey Guys, I just had a Land Rover shipped to me from my Dad in the UK to me in the USA. We had just purchased the vehicle so we don't have many miles on it before it arrived on my doorstep. Since driving it a fair bit over the past couple of weeks I have noticed that there is a lot of diesel...
