sunds like the belt maybe a little tight.

yes it was fully closed so maybe i should try it open it dosnt seem to of done the landy any harm as it seems to run the same as normal now. thanks for the reply at least i know what im looking at:doh:

where on the temp gauge should the needle sit, as it sits at about 80 on my 200 tdi but when i put a rad muff on it went up to 100 not in the red but it did make me worrie. as when i stopped i could see steam coming from under the bonnet

slow as in i can put the peddel to the floor and it wont move at all sometimes it cuts out and i have to use the starter to keep it turning over untill it clears then its fine. i going to have a good look today to see if i can spot anything i will let you know how i get on. :)

i have a similar problem but its only when it first starts white smoke and no power at all then it clears. i think i have an air leak in mine somewhere but no idea where

i was just thinking the same about mine. it sits a little low at the rear and with the trailer on its very low ( mind you it is a 880kg ifor williams tilt bed) and then a car:( i was thinking about hd rear springs but i dont want to lift it at all so i will be watching to see what answers you get :)

mine did this and it was down to a rusty numberplate light that was shorting out:)

did it only smoke on start up as mine is fine after about 20 seconds. maybe it is my timing but if it was would it not smoke all the time?

so i take it a disco 200tdi axel (with discs) will fit in my 200tdi 90 (with drums) without any problems? is it just a case of changing the axel and brake pipes? sorry for the :hijacked:

any news on this? im starting to think it may be the lift pump on mine playing up but if you have been having trouble with one make maybe its one to avoid?

Hi i have searched but no joy. when i start my 200tdi it misses and the throttle makes little diffrence then about 5 seconds later the throttle makes no diffrence it will only tick over. after about 20 seconds all is well again. any ideas?:)

im not sure if you can still get them but you used to be able to get a tool to remove the valve springs on a ford cvh without removing the head. As the pistons are flat on a 200tdi maybe you could adapt one of them or try and make one. What you would need to do is make sure the piston is at the...

is the windscreen on a defender designed to fold forward? mine has hinges at the bottom but is sealed shut at the top with silecone?

thanks for the help. no i didnt pump the fuel up before i tryed to start it but it is getting fuel. the compression seems ok (just from turning it by hand) as i dont have a tester so i was thinking it must be over fueling or low on compression hence the new gasket. i will have a look to see if...
