right, so the head is back and all ok and the block is on the stand and all the new parts are laid out...... I have 2 questions though! 1) the chaps who ground the crank etc supplied me with all the bearings for the bottom end, they are all larger sizes than the original apart from the thrust...

where is the earth on lamps. in my series its just back to the chassis. obviously things have moved on a little bit!!!!

Ok cool, thanks for that. I've got a new loom to go in for the headlights but didnt want to do that without bypassing the dim dip. I'll get it done and see what happens! :)

Hello! I dont suppose any of your chaps know which relay is the dim/dip relay in the picture attached. I've numbered the relays. Thanks Rob

I took it to them with the timing cover on as i couldnt get the pully off and might think im a bit of a mug (to be fair i am) thanks for that. I've always found glencoyne pretty handy! Do you think i need to replace the seal in the bell housing?? It went on only a few thousand miles ago most...

Ok. So how hard is it to set the timing belt. The chaps at the garage are offering to a) give me the block back with pistons in b) block back with timing cover on and belt set.... Thw difference is a 180 pound. I reckon it cant be that hard. What do you think??

yup after some rootling around today i opted to buy one in order to rule out the wiring! hopefully it'll be here this week. did you run a wire back to the battery for the earth or just to the chassis???

I am very close to rolling them both out into the street and setting fire to them both.... I dont mind so much when the old one/toy breaks thats part of the deal i have with it. but the newer one annoys me when it breaks... but hey its a land rover i knew what i was doing! I'll go round and...

Hi chaps, I've got a 2013 defender, the head lamps have been replaced for LED ones. Since having replaced them I've had problems with them not coming on first thing in a morning, the side lamps come on, but not the lights, i can flash and indicate. if i hold the flash down the headlamps come...

Hi chaps, so having taken the engine in, they have reground the crank and also the bores so i'm looking forward to getting it back this week and slinging it back in the truck. I'll keep you updated with whats what!

Right well the sump had coppery glitter in it. And the oil pumps mesh had copper glitter and crud on it...

Right ive pulled the head off and i reckon cylinder 4 is the problem ill attach some photos. How bad do you think this is?? Ive drained the oil and there isnt any swarf in it but ill do the sump and ladder frame next to see whats what!

yup i am going to check this, i'm also going to fit a pressure gauge and oil temp as well

what kit would you use for the cylinder compression? i only seem to be able to find petrol ones

thanks, i'll do the pressure testing and then crack on with stipping it down, i'm 90% sure that i'll have to do some work/investiagting. i've got a spare head all set up and ready to go and a new/recon crank shaft so i guess that'll help. in terms of cylinder damage what am i looking for??? is...

What just strip it down or ??? Do you mean its not scrap but there is a problem. So could be worse but probably fixable?
