Update! So. Over a week on... Still no car :( Found a crack in a pipe leading into the radiator so the whole unit is being replaced today. Fingers crossed I will be collecting it tonight. Note to self - Become handy with a spanner. S

Finally! They have found the reason for me losing coolant. A hose rubbing on the chassis. It's getting replaced for the car to be ready Tuesday. Hose is located deep in engine bay. Just glad to no longer be supporting Halfrauds with a 5ltr purchase of coolant every month. S

Why bother having one in the first place then?!? Just get an estate. S

They're looking at it now. Year. Re-the whine. Don't know. Think it may have just been a symptom. S

To be honest I just want it sorted. Long term I will look to save lots by doing stuff myself so this time I will put the cost down to a one-off. Off set against how much the repair would have cost at LR or that it could have been a lot worse I have come out relatively unscathed. S
