one other question, is there still oil in the box? Mine ran out of oil too and started to make horrible sounds too, squeeling sounds. Also the hi/low wasn't working.

I could, but the wear is a lot more than just some play and i'm affraid that the eyes where the ujs sit are are also damaged. The thing is that i don't have a place to work on it other that on the street, i like to keep work on it as short as possible. So replacing it all might just be easier...

Hmm i've changed out the hand brake during newyears hoping that the squeeling in the drive train was solved. Although the handbrake mecanism was somewhat stuck it wasn't the cause. Any ideas on this problem?

haha, just don't make the mistake of buying soundproofing kit made of a felt like material ... i grow mushrooms now :P but it's good to read that it's normal for a defender to leak everywhere. guess that n/a not only applies to the engine :P

i've already removed the belt, but the dynamo is still there, might that that off aswell. Not using the 24Volt anyway. I'll have a look at all the hoses coming off that cap. You might be right that one is clogged or the valve is stuck.
