Started doing mine today as weather better. Waiting on some paint drying before hopefully welding tomorrow. That's if I don't get list of other stuff that SWMBO thinks is more urgent :(

I've used the Hammerite special finishes primer on mine for galvanised metal. It etches it first. Was paint applied only boring part was doing the mesh.
